Hey all

I would like to thicken up my live sound by taking the ouput of the SM57 that mics my cab splitting it and then delaying one channel by 20ms or so. Then send the sound guy two signals that he can pan left and right. Do I need to have the two channels out of phase? Any suggestions on the best gear to do this? I thought about two amps, but owning let alone carrying two Road King heads isn't very fun.

Thanks!

Hi there!

It can works! But remember that is not a very good idea to split the signal of a cable, because the level of the 2 signals won't have the +6 dB mic level. But you can try with one of this:

You won't get any phase problem. The problem comes if you change the phase of ONLY one side. Both of them have to be on phase. Also, if you put a delay on one side, you don't have to worry for this. But you can listen! Remember, when something is out of phase, it loses a lot of body and it's mid-range.
