No posts by "AB" since Sept. 2010 so much for "Mesa Engineering"participation.. seems a lot of problems on this board they don't really want to acknowledge.

Maybe not in this thread, but they have posted on other threads during 2011.

I still like Mesa, but let's not fool ourselves into thinking they give a rip about this board.

Very few problems on this board that can't be addressed by calling Mesa directly (faster), and using the Google (also faster).
Most noob queries get a quick response IME.
Have some cheese with that whine. :D

I have a question for you Mesa Boogie.
my jp2c sounds really weak and frail, I had a dual rectifier that was just a beast. I don't know if it is because I'm using a 16 ohm cab hughes and kettner cab, but still even with the hughes and kettner cab, the dual rectifier was a mammoth in terms of volume and power compared to the jp2c.
could my weak jp2c be a tube problem? or are they weak compared to a dual rectifier?
I just bought the jp2c and I'm super disappointed, please help? I may sale the thing and get another dual rec

I haven't owned a JP2C, but if it's like every other Mark I've owned you need to aggressively scoop with the graphic EQ. The classic Boogie V shaped graphic EQ is classic for a reason... because it works. If you get a lot of your information from the internet you've probably been told that scooping the mids is bad... which is probably true for most amps... Mark's aren't most amps.

One of the tricks is to play around with the 750Hz slider... too low and you'll sound too hollow. Too high and you'll sound too honky. Eventually you'll find the best spot for you.

Also, don't be afraid of the gain knob. With a Recto it starts to get mushy as you go above 1:00... with a Mark, don't be afraid of putting it anywhere just shy of maximum (a lot of thrash guys used to run it around 8 or 9 on the old style gain knobs).

Lastly, volume. Although most Marks will sound good at low volumes they don't turn into monsters until they're turned up loud.
