How do I determine the color code of my tubes?

Post by kenneho » Fri Feb 16, 2018 2:06 pm

Hi.

I'm pretty new to tubes, so I guess this is a newbie question, but here it goes: How do I determine the color code of my Mesa Boogie Express 5:25+ amp? It says "GRN" on at least one of the tubes, so I'm guessing it means my tubes have the color code "green", but how do I know, how does one determine the color code on power tubes?

Pull one of the tubes. It should have the color code on the silver strip under the Mesa logo at the base of the tube.
The way they're mounted in the chassis might be blocking the print.

Should say something like 10 AC GRN

93 97 98 PRS CE24
94 98 G&L Legacy
94 G&L ASAT Special
95 G&L S-500
99 Peavy Wolfgang
11 Gibson LP Studio 60

69 Bandmaster Head
88 Quad Pre
91 & 92 Simul 295
92 DC-5
96 Mark IV Maple/Wicker
98 5150 combo
08 Mark IV Wide

Thanks for your reply. The label read exactly what you suggested it would - "10 AC GRN".
