Hi, new guy here! I just picked up a couple of boxes of Mesa EL34 STR 450 for real cheap. I believe that they are supposed to be NOS Siemens. Anyone have experience with them and what did you think?

hey,

from what I have heard, that's right, Siemens... they are supposed to be great. I had a quad in my Diezel Einstein and it sounded great. I put a pair in the simul sockets of my C+ and I wasn't too happy. Seemed a bit to fizzy. not tight enough, but maybe i didn't give them a fair chance because I had mesa STR 416 (6CA7's) to swap them with.

Should I put them into my 72 Super Lead or one of my JCM800's? I believe Siemens were stock in the 800's back then.

I had a pair several years back. I loved them, great sounding, as close as your going to get to that classic EL34 sound. BTW, how much did you pay for them? The prices have gone way up. I got them 5 years ago for about $70 a pair.

Just wondering.

Thanks
