If you are paying extra to match a quad rather than buy two matched pairs, NO.
Tubes always come in matched pairs, and most vendors don't charge extra for this. Some do for a matched quad. There's no real advantage to a matched quad, since even in a four-power-tube amp, they still work in pairs.
It's just more snakeoil to make a few more bucks off the uninformed.
But, it is a free country, and it's your money. :D
 
Yes, you certainly can. If all the tubes in the quad are matched to each other, then by definition any two will be.

The advantage of doing it would be that if one tube blew, you could replace it with one of the other two without a possible bias mismatch.
