so im pretty much an idiot when it comes to tubes

alright, so i understand this much

in general el34s breakup faster then 6l6s

threfore el34s produes a lesser clean tone

there are power tubes and pre amp tubes

i know the difference

i know that 12ax7 or whatever are very good pre amp tubes

what about 6l6s, i dont imagine i will ever play el34s.

what are the differences in all the tubes, is it the vararing levels of the volume breakups, and the overall sound.

whats the best tube i can go for for nice distorion, but still get my clean for jazz?
