Short and sweet!
Man, L-I-K-E that lead guitar tone. Sounds really chewy.
Details, please.
nice, blaklynx, thanks for the comments!
ok, details are old, a bit vague, but here's a shot at it:
i don't have any actual shots from that session,
but here are a couple of pics that shows the basics:
the first shot, shows the carvin i used for all the guitar tracks,
the amp head (mesa boogie Mark2b) and pedals (pretty sure i didn't use any pedals on this track, just the boogie super loud)--
did NOT use the avatar cab, didn't have it then.
the second shot, shows the actual cabinets i used- Roland closed back 1x12's, with celestion Greenbacks, the one cabinet i always tilt up, and put either a large diaghram condenser on it (ADK Hamburg shown) or a SM57 (the actual mic used on this recording.)
i remember this: it was TOO loud to stand in the room with the cabs,
i used a very long headphone curly cable, and stood outside of the room playing along with the drum tracks.
i've changed my modus operendi a bit since this was recorded:
i run a Weber Mass lite as an attenuator, to bring the volume down....
i now mostly capture guitar tracks using a Palmer PDI-09; the palmer gets fed the full amp signal, then goes thru the attenuator, and that feeds the cab.
i sometimes mix a miced track with the palmer,
and use either a shure KSM44, or a shure SM57.
either closed mic, or room miced.
i use a Avatar Closed back cab, with a old Celestion G12C-30 (rare as hens teeth) and i have a NEW Celestion Heritage G12H-55 in one of the older Roland cabs, and it is an open back.
