Hi everybody,

I recently bought a mass 400+ used. It's a US model (110V) rewired to work in Europe (220V).

Unfortunately there's an annoying noise coming from the back. Here a video http://youtu.be/1drH8GIMJdQ

Do you think I should change the power amp valves or it's something different?

Please help me! :?

It's definately tube rattle. Sometimes, as tubes get older and heads get banged around in transit, the elements inside get loose. Your best bet is to replace the output tubes especially if you do not know the age of the existing tubes. I know - big $$$. There are several 3rd party tube dampening devices out there too, but, you would have to do some research on if they would work on that amp. Tube rattle is more common in combo amps where the tubes are subjected to the sound pressure from the speaker.

Good luck - Pat.

Many thanks.
I've seen Watford's website. They've got a specific "bass 400+" replacement valves set.

I hope changing the valves could eliminate that noise!
