I'm thinking of selling one of my 2 Roadster cabs (2x12) and getting something smaller and more portable. Everyone speaks so highly of Thiele but what's so great about them compared to other MB 1x12 cabs? Is there really a sound difference?

A thiele/ported 1x12 gets you the thump that an open back 1x12 cab lacks, but lacks the 'boxy' sound of a closed back 1x12.

Ya, they sound huge for their size!! The clean of a thiele is also better than that of a close back.

I think the Thiele's sound best when combined with a combo. I had an EVM pair with my Triaxis setup, and they were just too directional for me. No "spread" to the soundfield. But just one with my MK IV combo sounded awesome.

LOL poopsmith.

Thieles are directional like a close back cab but they have a more open clean tone and they sound 'bigger' or less boxy than a close backed cab. You loose the thump somewhat. Keep that in mind.
