Im looking to upgrade my bass rig, I currently have GK 1001rb 2x10 combo which is ok, but still not what Im looking for.

Any opinions on what mesa's most versatile rig would be ? Im not worried about cash, weight as long as its not 150 pounds (because its going up a flight of stairs or two).

I've had my eye on the M9 and a 6x10. The only downside I heard about the M9 is that its solid state sounding, anyone own it ?

I have an M-9, it does have a SS power section, a good one. Yes, it has one 12AX7 in the preamp but it does not deliver the "tube sound".
If that's what your after get an all tube head.
I also have a 400+ ( and an M-2000 but that's neither here nor there)
I like the M-9 better than the 400+(and M-2000) myself, clearer low end and better upper mids. Not to mention easier to lug around.
BTW, I play through two 2x12's in case you wondered.

Thats a pretty cool rig, dual 2x12's, that sounds like it really pumps. Hows the low end from that stack ?
