Hi Everyone,
I had my Mesa M-Pulse 360 for about half a year (got it used), and since it produced hissing and shwooshing for a while, I decided it was time to change the tubes. I unscrewed the top today, to see what color the tubes were when they were working. I had the amp on without the top for about 30 seconds, and since the tubes did not glow, I turned it off. The tubes had black tips, so they probably caught oxygen. But, I noticed my transformer turned black from the middle, or I think it did, because from what I remember, it was white when I unscrewed the top. Is it possible that it started frying due to poor ventilation (without the top on)? I feel that 30 seconds would be way too short of a time period, so what do you guys think?
Here's a picture to help clarify my question.
