Indeed. I spent many years in Whistler back in the 90s, and am heading to 2 different locations next month. I'm a bit worried that I may get no backcountry in at all. I'm also experienced and knowledgeable enough that I won't chance bad conditions just because it's my only trip of the year. I've lost too many friends over the years in the mountains. :(

well, it's finally calming down around here.

another 8" of light snow last night, and most of the 'self-triggered' avalanches have occurred.

now the big test begins....
the weekend comes, all the weekend warriors start heading out into the backcountry...........
 
well, even after all the warnings, somebody died this saturday.
