For years I hated Marshalls. I never thought they ever did get the master volume thing down. I always thought they sounded overly piercing, and cliched.

The limited edition SL5 from 2013 is a great amp for Boogie folks. It does a nice American high gain sound, while retaining a distinctly bright clean channel. Slash and Marshall did a great job on this, and I don't really like Slash.

The lower gain sounds remind me of early 70's Allman Brothers. The clean channel is nice and bright, spanky kind of 1960s vibe to it.

i think most folks that like the boogie sound, don't want an amp that sounds like slash's tone.

That's not all it does, obviously.

Just like a Mark IV isn't just for playing Metallica. I've even seen Larry Carlton playing a pair of Mark IVs.
