Hiya!

I am looking for an MC-90 speaker response curve and datasheet. Does one exist?
[edit] How representative would the Celestion CL-80 curve be?

Thanks!

The curve would look nearly identical, and any differences you could see would not be meaningful anyway.

The reason I say this is that the available published curves for almost all the Celestion models look nearly identical - but the speakers don't sound nearly identical. There's a lot more to the tone of a speaker than the response curve.

If you just need one for illustrative purposes or to work out something to do with a cabinet, the CL80 curve will be fine.

There are two main problems with speaker curves as they are generally presented:

Remember that 3db is halfing of apparent volume.

a) the Y axis has a scale that is 40 or 50 dB high, which really masks major changes (1-3 db) in sensitivity across the freq. spectrum (eg. 2-8% of chart height)

b) the speaker curves show nothing of the changes in frequency response vs. drive level of the speaker.
