I was unhappy with the pickups on my guitar and decided to try a mag swap ($8 a LOT cheaper than the Lollar and Gibson pickups I want to upgrade to). The neck tone was uninspiring and the bridge had too many overtones (probably due to the guitar body being made of ziricote).

In the neck I have a GFS Alnico 5 bucker and a Seymour Duncan Black Winter Alnico 5. After some reading, I decided to go with an unpolished Alnico 2 in the neck and a unpolished Alnico 5 unoriented in the bridge. I also decided to flip the bridge mag to get the hollow sound in the middle position.

The end result is that the guitar now sounds amazing through my MarkV. The tone is a lot smoother and the overtones are gone. I am not handy so the project took a little over an hour and was very satisfying.
