I think it's just the angle at which they took these pics. It's sort of offset and makes the headstock look funny. I do agree it does look weird.

the Gibson shape is way better, but I think the new one is pretty good. definitely better than the other "explorer" esp was making... the real sharp looking ones after the lawsuit. I would like to check one out
