Definitely swamp ash.
With that grain like red oak on steroids, and a sapwood clean and white with open grain, I'm guessing it's from the Swamps of Barataria, in the Atchafalaya Basin, about 12 miles southwest of the French Quarter of New Orleans, very near the Jean Lafitte National Park, north of the Cajun Cemetery and the Fleming Plantation home, and just a few yards left of the Indian Burial Mound. :D

Sorry to correct you MrMarkIII but I think it's a few yards to the right of the burial mound.

Right... left... who cares?!

I have a partscaster with a swamp ash body, and that's why I asked... it's got a great sound & feel, but since it's finished in Reranch Surf Green nitro, I never knew the wood could be so bee-yoo-tee-ful!!!

strat porn indeed!!! beautiful guitar! are you going to gig with it? man!!! for something that beautiful, i'd be afraid to use it!

Love Strats, have a couple myself. What type of neck does that have, V, C, U?

That is one of the sickest Strats I have ever seen. Beautiful and elegant. If it had humbuckers, it would be perfect.
