I've been slowly expanding this riff, and it's still less than a minute long. I really hope I can turn into something epic and heavy, because that would be fantastic.

I used a borrowed LTD EC-400 (an older model, with a flat-top mahogany body) outfitted with EMGs. I don't normally like EMGs, but the bridge pickup isn't half bad on this guitar. The neck pickup, on the other hand, is pretty much useless. I have Rotosound 11s on this guitar.

Amp Settings: Mark IVa through VHT straight 412
Lead Channel
Gain: 9P
Treble: 6
Bass: 4
Mids: 5.5
Drive: 10
Presence: 1.5

I had my amp recently modded so that the non-Pull Shift setting is usable. I found the original setting to be overly harsh and crude, so I had my amp tech voice the non-pulled setting somewhere between pulled and the original non-pulled. It's perfect. I use a Sennheiser e609.

Tell me what you think!

i like it. pretty good definition on the distortion, not just mush.
