She has won three consecutive overall World Cup and downhill championships (2008, 2009, 2010), the first American woman and second woman ever to accomplish this.

Vonn won the gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics, the first ever in the event for an American woman.

Vonn also won three consecutive World Cup season titles in Super G (the first American woman to do so), and two consecutive titles in the combined.

As of March 2011, she has 41 World Cup wins in four disciplines (downhill, Super G, slalom, and super combined).

With her Olympic gold and bronze medals, two World Championship gold medals in 2009 (plus two silver medals in 2007), and three overall World Cup titles, Vonn has become the most successful American skier in ski racing history.

Yeah, that's pretty cool. She was born in St. Paul and grew up in Burnsville (a suburb south of Minneapolis) so I like to see her doing well.
That home town girl kind of thing.
Our lead guitar player/singer was from Burnsville too.

amazing... didn't she do a lot of that on a hurting knee? in the olympics anyway?

don't know anything about a hurt knee...

she got a concussion during training runs at worlds.

way back during the olympics (February 18, 2010)
she had a right shin injury that was so bad she couldn't walk on it, but went on anyway to win the Gold in Downhill.
