Hey,

I found this orange cab on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.nl/ORANGE-1-x-18-Vintage-Speaker-Cabinet_W0QQitemZ200343866172QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_MusicalInstr_Amplifiers_RL?hash=item2ea56ccb3c&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1399%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

It's a 1x18'' :!: how different does this sound from a 4x12 cab? Won't it give my amp way more bass since it's a huge speaker? And is 500 euros a good price for that cab?

It will be a LOT rounder....treble will probably be more recessed. I personally wouldn't do it, as I like a lot of attack and aggression in my guitar guitar tone, and since I play mostly in a band, I let the bass take care of the low end. Then again, I've heard of 15" speakers working great in other players cabs.

Best of luck!

But will this cab give me enough power for classic rock and high gain rock? I'm playing lead guitar and we sometimes play without bass...

The most important thing for me is the price though, what is a good price for a second hand 1x18'' like this one?

I'd go for it - I much prefer 15" speakers to 12", I reckon 18" would sound badass. It may be a little bit priced up because it's got 'vintage vibe', but it is pretty cool. What amp are you playing it with?

Mark IV  not sure if I'm going for it though... I'm watching some other cabs too :)

Hmm I'd be surprised if it sounded good but Orange is a good company. Largest I've played through is a 15" and it was dumpy. I think the more controlled the sound the better. An 18 is pretty hard to control.
