    1x12 Thieles

A mint blond Thiele just went for $665 on eBay.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7369517978&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT

    Mark IV speaker comparison

Thanks for the post. I'm about to go through a similar process, as I just bought a Mark IV Widebody/C90 combo on eBay and expect it to arrive within a few days. Just a couple more questions: Is your combo the widebody or the compact cab? I would expect the tone of a given speaker to differ a...

Another expieriment: 50wts vs 100wts in my T-verb combo

That's a special case. I think there's an appendix in the back of the physics book to cover those.

Another expieriment: 50wts vs 100wts in my T-verb combo

This has to be THE most misunderstood amplifier concept of all time. :( Most musicians (and most other people, for that matter) simply don't understand the underlying physics of sound. Perceived volume to the human ear is a function of many factors, such as the number and proximity of...

How to break in new speakers?

I've also heard of people running sound sources like the radio through speakers all day at a good volume level while they're at work to help speed the process, although this isn't practical for everyone. There's no way around the fact that the moving parts need hours of some kind of exercise to...

More Mark IV questions before purchase

I wasn't trying to question Mesa's design choices. I just keep seeing the Mark IV EV speaker referred to here as the EV-12L, yet every EV speaker I've seen pictured in a Mark IV says EVM instead of EV-12L. I thought there might be different EV models used, so I wanted to be sure we were...

Ebay 2C+.... I still like mine better!

Glad you found some good info. Unfortunately, I can't help you with your question, but others here certainly can. However, since no one else has done so, I can at least welcome you to the Boogie Board. I think that's within my rights, even if I've only achieved "Mark I" status. :)

More Mark IV questions before purchase

The pictures of the EV-loaded combos I've seen show a speaker label that indicates Black Shadow, Electrovoice, 200 watts, and Type EVM. I've never seen one that actually says EV-12L on the label. Are we talking about the same speaker?

    Post removed.

Never heard Lamb of God, so I just went to their web site and listened to 4 out of the 5 cuts in the audio downloads section there (the last link didn't work). I certainly don't want to offend any fans, but on three of the cuts, all I heard was essentially the same tune under three different...

More Mark IV questions before purchase

Boogiebabies - Well, if that question is coming from you, I assume there's no major known difference, or you'd be quoting me some specs. I've seen a couple of '90 or '91 Mark IV's for sale that boast about having a larger transformer than the later models, claiming that they're more...

More Mark IV questions before purchase

As I get closer to buying my first Mesa, which I decided will be a Mark IV, I'm still having trouble deciding on a few things. I've searched the forum here for some answers, and found a little info, but I'm hoping you guys can give me some more definitive opinions, as I won't be able to compare...

    Other Amp-Boards/Forums?

I agree with you on the Carvin forum, and I'll risk mentioning the Peavey forum here as well. While both of these brands take a lot of abuse from some folks because they make a lot of low-end stuff (especially Peavey), they've both produced some very respectable products and earned loyal...

    Carvin V3...I want it

Carvin actually makes some pretty darn good stuff at very reasonable prices. Definitely worth considering for those that don't have the need/desire/ability to shell out big bucks for the more coveted "premium" brand names. Sure, their forum is biased just like any other brand-specific forum...

Ebay 2C+.... I still like mine better!

Boogiebabies having "some" knowledge? The level of understatement there just struck me as kind of funny. No offense intended, of course, and if you check out some of his other posts, you'll see what I mean. I shudder to think what would happen if he gave up the Klonopin.

good chorus and echo/delay effects for dual recto?

For you guys that have used the H2O, what do you think of it? I've read the good reviews, and heard the online clips, but I'd be interested in more opinions from users. Going to check one out at Guitar Center soon. I'm not looking for anything wild or wacky. I'd like a chorus that will add a...

    A used LSC for $1150

I'm surprised that Mesa recommends crushed paper. My experience has been that a heavy amp will compress the paper and allow the amp to flop around in the newly created free space. You'd have to pack an awful lot of paper in there REALLY tightly to avoid that, which most people won't do...
