The pictures of the EV-loaded combos I've seen show a speaker label that indicates Black Shadow, Electrovoice, 200 watts, and Type EVM. I've never seen one that actually says EV-12L on the label. Are we talking about the same speaker?

I agree with you on the Carvin forum, and I'll risk mentioning the Peavey forum here as well. While both of these brands take a lot of abuse from some folks because they make a lot of low-end stuff (especially Peavey), they've both produced some very respectable products and earned loyal...

Carvin actually makes some pretty darn good stuff at very reasonable prices. Definitely worth considering for those that don't have the need/desire/ability to shell out big bucks for the more coveted "premium" brand names. Sure, their forum is biased just like any other brand-specific forum...

I'm surprised that Mesa recommends crushed paper. My experience has been that a heavy amp will compress the paper and allow the amp to flop around in the newly created free space. You'd have to pack an awful lot of paper in there REALLY tightly to avoid that, which most people won't do...
