I tried it in a store, and the master was set really high, like 3 o'clock, while the volume was set really low, because I tried to get some more gain. I understood later that I should have done it inversely, but the store was just about to close and I didn't have much time. So the reason may...
I'm seriously considering getting an M6 Carbine. I'm actually a guitarist, but the last couple of years I've started playing a little bass, and I also want to record it. Because of limited space, I don't want anything bigger than a 2x10 (or 2x12). I mainly play rock, hard or not so hard, but can...
Tried an Electra Dyne today and switched from clean to HI and it gave off a loud pop. I switched on the front panel, not with a footswitch. Thought that wouldn't happen with a modern amp.
Faulty or user mistake?
Recently been trying to improve my recording technique with my Mark IIc+ and IV. They both sound awesome in the room, but as soon as I stick my head in front of the cabinet (v30 loaded Marshall AV) i hear some really harsh mid-frequency tones. Tried to record them using different mics and...
Yes, as you know I have a beautiful head I could bring with me, gts;) The driving distance is about 2 hours though, so I thought I should check with the experts here first :D The weight may be a problem as I wanted thieles for portability. I have no doubt in the speakers, but in the cabinet...
I've been looking for EVM-12L loaded thieles for some time with little success. There's a Mesa/Boogie Diesel 2-15 bass cabinet with EV EVM-15L's for sale not too far away from me now. Just wondered if it would work out good as a guitar cabinet. Any opinions on the EVM-15L's?
Is it a simul-class amp? If not, you're not supposed to put EL-34's in it. Does your amp use 6 power tubes? If so it's a coliseum (300 series) amp. If it uses 4 power tubes it's not.
I'm in the process of buying my first NOS tubes (power & preamp tubes). The vendor I talked to wondered what plate voltages they would be operating at. I very exite! 8)
And thanks by the way :D
The plate voltages for a simul-class/100w Mk IIc+ is somewhere around 450v-460v, right?
What is the plate voltages in the Mk IV?
Joey, please chime in

A simple question for the knowledgeable. Are the NOS GE and RCA versions of the 7581a tubes of the same construction and quality as the ones made by Philips/Sylvania, or are these just rebrands of the Philips/Sylvania 7581a? I have the chance to buy NOS 7581a's for $60.00 a piece, but they're...
Thanks for the reply gts.
Think I'll just have to read a lot and check out some sites to get to know the market and going prices. I've actually read TimbreWolf's thread a while ago but didn't get much out of it back then. I may find it more useful now though. And thanks for the tip on the late...
I have the possibility to buy two unused Mullard 12ax7s from the sixties for about $200.00. Would you say this is a good deal or nothing special? I've just started to look into the NOS market and my knowledge isn't the best, although I'm trying to learn. How much is the going price for these...
Well actually the post is a bit unclear. The title says IIc+, but in the description he talks about upgrading it, so I may have misunderstood. If it's a non-upgraded IIc then I think you're right on the spot DaveP.
$800 - $1200? Really? I'm not knocking on you DaveP but isn't $1200 a little low for a hardwood head with reverb and simul-class if it's in good condition? Even if it's an upgrade. Maybe I'm way off but I'd say between $1000 and $1800 depending on condition and options. Feel free to knock me...
You still can find some regular c's around for a good price, although not as cheap as the a-version. You can even get a c+ for pretty "cheap" if you're willing to go for one without simul-class or graphic eq, especially if it's an upgrade. They're still great amps without all the optional bells...
