Saw them at NAMM in the Jet City Amps booth. They are a direct replacement for 12ax7s. No microphonics and guaranteed for life. 3 different gain levels available. Michael Soldano says they are great. Sounded fine in his amps there but the NAMM floor is no place for really listening...

I too am in the Mesa and Randall families (Mark IV, RM22 and RM100). Since the RM22 runs on a pair of EL84s you are never going to get a true Recto sound out of it - espcially cranked up because the EL84s start to break up and really dominate the tone.

Quick question about microphonic tubes: If you push and otherwise quiet tube to the point of squealing, does it damage the tube or make it more prone to be microphonic - or can you just back off and it returns to "normal".? Thanks, Ron

Thunda: You may be right about that. It does not sound bad, but it does not produce a tone that really catches my ear. I have to disagree about vintage tubes being over-hyped. I just got a Bugle Boy and a few Sylvania 12ax7wa's that make a mind blowing difference in what my amp sounds like...

The 12 AX7 marking on it is in grey and on 2 lines the 12 over the AX7. There is a U.S.A. in the same gray print under the AX7. It also looks like there may be some dots (3 or 4?) in the same gray ink under the USA. They are covered by the Hammond logo so it is hard to see. There are 2...

They had the TransAtlantic at the NAMM Show. Great little amp. 2 channels and several tone and voicing switches. I am not sure they are really trying to compete with the Tiny Terror or the Vox "lunchbox". They all have that similar look, but the Boogie is at least twice as expensive ($900)...
