    WTB: lone star headshell

Hey all. I’m looking for a lone star head shell so I can convert an electra dyne combo into a head. If anyone has one, or knows of one, I’m interested with cash. Thanks.

    International shipping

Well, I recently sent a guitar in hard case to Italy, about 25 pounds total weight, and that cost just over $100USD. I'm not certain about customs and taxes but the value for that guitar was about $800. I did read on the USPS website that you really aren't supposed to ship musical instruments...

    International shipping

It depends where you're shipping it to. Whenever I sell internationally there are a few rules I follow. 1. Buyer covers all taxes, tarrifs, customs fees, etc. 2. Pack your item to survive nuclear war. 3. Go to USPS.com and check out restrictions for size/items for the country you're going...

Best metal settings on a Single recto

Is there a particular band you can give? I mean, modern harcore metal has a lot of variance (IMHO), and my setting may not sound that impressive to you, or might just not be what you had in mind. Also, which tubes are you using? 34 or 6L6?

    Packing Tips

Something I like is I go to Home Depot and pick up sheets of styrofoam insulation. They come in different thickness, and you can trim it to fit around the amp, perfect fit every time.

    Neck-Through Lutheirs?

Search for Brent Gutierrez. He's a really solid luthier that does some great work.

    Marshall advice...Please!

That sounds about right for that cab right now. The market is sort of slow in general. If you need to money $400 is fair.

    extreme values

For blues/rock/80's metal you can do a whole lot worse than a Peavey VTM 60/120. Marshally sort of tones, it's sort of a tweaker amp with all the dip switches, with a boost can cover all kinds of metal, by itself is just a real solid amp in the vein of a JCM800. They're ugly so they're...

    Taming a Dual Recto

I recently switched out V1 in my recto to help tame some of the fizz. I went with a 12at7 though, and it's noticeable, smoother gain, no fizz, really killer. I'm tempted to try a 5751, which is a little hotter than the AT but not as much as an AX.

    12AT7 in V1

I'm glad to see other tube tester guys here. I've also heard the 5751 is a good option as well, just a bit hotter than a 12at7. The rest of my tubes are stock Mesa, do you guys have favorites for the other spots? I haven't tried EL34's since the V1 swap so I haven't decided what to do...

    12AT7 in V1

How many folks have tried this here? 12at7 in V1? I was having a hard time dialing in my newer single rec solo, seemed like a lot of fizz/fuzz, spikey characteristics. Someone on another board said they had good luck swapping the v1 tube so I tried it. Penta Labs balanced triode, about...

Genuine vs other tubes for single recto

I have been going through dougstubes.com for a couple years and when I need help he's been great. I recently retubed my single rec solo head and I was skeptical about a couple preamp tubes he recommended, but it really does sound good.

best boost for liquidy leads on my tremoverb

A really solid clean boost you might not know about is the Baja Boost. It's a bit like an old Rangemaster, but with a tone knob. Clean, clear, great for pushing your amp over the edge. Not to spendy either.

What new guitar should I buy... Under 1000ish

I was pleasantly surprised with a Dean I bought recently. I'm not sure what you consider sexy but I wouldn't rule them out. Another guitar I wouldn't hesitate to buy would be anything from Reverend. Great guitars.
