Best Method of changing premap tubes

That is what I wanted to know. Thanks. I was trying to find out if you could get to the tubes by removing the grille cloth. You can't on the V, and I didn't want to try on the Jp-2C unless I knew it was possible.

Best Method of changing premap tubes

OK, well, I will answer my own post in case it helps anyone else. First, the tube layout is in the JP-2C allows easier access to the preamp tubes. V1, for example, is not stuck behind a transformer. I only needed to remove three power tubes to gain access to all the preamp tubes. I placed the...

Best Method of changing premap tubes

Hello, I just picked up a JP-2C. The is fantastic, but I have a microphonic/humming preamp tube. I think it is V1. I want to change out the stock tube for a Tung-sol. On my Mark V, I generally remove all power tubes, then squish my hand around the transformer to get to V1. Not fun, but doable...

PRS Torero... is it worth looking into?

I have an Esp Eclipse II and an EC-400. MesaENGR412 has it right. The Eclipse neck is not as wide at the nut. The Eclipse neck is the more rounded C as opposed to the Torrero' more oval shape. Also, the Eclipse II has 22 frets and thr Torero and EC-400 both have 24 frets. Also, the Torero is...

PRS Torero... is it worth looking into?

Hi, I just picked up one of the new model Toreros in scarlet red. Fantastic guitar. It feels really nice to play. It has one of the most comfortable necks necks i have ever played. I also have an ESP KH-2. I performed the 18 volt mod on it. Personally, i don't hear a big difference in either...

    Nova System or G-Major II?

Since you had the G-major 2, you know it will do all of these things with no problem, and it has two relays. Coupled with a good midi controller, like the RJM Mastermind, you can access every effect like a stompbox. The Mastermind has an instant access mode that allows you to access each...

    Sovtek 12ax7LPS Tube Question

+1 I use the LPS in the PI position in all my amps. Buy them from The Tubestore or Doug's Tubes. Better price and better service.

Anyone had luck with the Mesa Boogie Rectifier cabinets?

I tried my Roadster with a recto 2x12, stiletto cab, and the stanard oversized cab. For a while, i thought the stilleto cab was it since it tighened up the amp. Then one day I plugged it back into theversized cab. Sounds massive, huge, and still tight dailed in right. I am stcking with the...

    Nova System or G-Major II?

I have both. For a rack setup with a switching system like an RG-16, I prefer the G-major 2. The nova system cannot do the for cable method. If you want to use the drive, you have use the guitar input, which means all other effects, like delay and reverb, will be before distortion. Use the line...

triple rec and mark iv together

Just use the Radial JS-X 2 switchbone. It will solve the phase problem and any ground issues. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Switchbone/ If you want to switch via midi, use the RJM Y-Not. It also has a phase switch. I have both and both work flawlessly.

    Guitar Center ditching Mesa?

In the greater tampa area, which includes Orlando, no GCs were Mesa Dealers, and there are at least five of them within an hours drive. The reason I was told was there was a local privately owned shop that was the official dealer, and there could not be another dealer within 200 miles! When Mesa...

    New Production Tung-Sol EL34B

I have the new tung sol El34Bs in my Framus Dragon. I really like the tube. They have the bbottom end of a 6L6 tube, but also have the nice EL34 crunch. They are very articulate. At least on the Dragon, you can forget about chimey cleans, but you can get a nice warm jazz kind of clean. Having...

    Tube Q

Generally, preamp tubes last a very (emphasis on very) long time, at least that was true for NOS tubes. They do not wear out like power tubes. I have bags of mesa Chinese tubes from the 80's and 90's that still test like new. I also have a handful of RCA tubes from the 60's that still sound good...
