    CabClone IR???

I have the 2 notes torpedo captor as well. And it sounded a million times better than the built in cabclone. My Tube Amp Expander sounds a bit better to me (especially since it "reamps" the tc50 and allows me to set the volume to the speaker at any volume in a different way than any other...

    CabClone IR???

Is there any way to update with firmware the cabclone in the TC50? I personally found cabclone in the amp useless. Sounded horrible to me. I ended up with a Boss WAZA Tube Amp Expander and use my Ownhammer IR and it sounds magnificent recorded and in front of house at live gigs. Anyway, when...

    TC-100 inbound - HD500 Midi?

It's crazy easy with the TC-50. Just set the channel, fx loop, reverb on the amp the way you want it (I'm assuming fx loop "on" to use the hd-500 effects), pick the program you are gonna use on the hd-500 (say "1" for instance). Then there is a "midi switch" toggle on the back of the amp. Hold...

Using a pedal switcher and MIDI

You don't need more than one out midi. I'm using a G System with my TC 50 and the out midi on the G System is all I need. The TC 50 has an out/thru on it if you need midi control back by the amp as well.

    Which tubes do you like?

I'm really, really loving the 6v6's

TC-50 Question? What did this amp replace if any?

I went over to the "dark side" for a few years with modeling. I was using the Helix...and getting **** good sounds out of it. And then I woke up one morning and decided it was time to once again use tubes and a heavy 4 x 12 cab. Bought the TC 50, pulled my old Bogner 4 x12 cab out of the...

    TC50 vs Mark V 35

I think that number one...the stuff he was playing wasn't really that good to show off a Boogie amp. I'd have loved to hear some long sustained notes that let the harmonics feedback, etc. Maybe some "Freeway Jam" by Jeff Beck type licks. So since there was no real solid AC/DC-like rock chords...

Clean Channel (CH1) way louder than CH2 and CH3?

Mine isn't "way louder"...but yeah, the clean channel does seem to have a lot of volume. And I'm not talking about the perceived difference between clean and distorted. My TC-50 has a loud clean channel. If I put all the three channels with exact identical settings...the clean channel is the...

    TC50, tube talk

Interesting. I have no way to do the testing myself...except for what my ears told me. And the Cryotone preamp tubes that I put in V3 and V4 of my TC-50 completely changed the sound for the better. But of course Wathen is a high-end audiophile company whose main focus seems to be all tube...

    Greenbacks?

I have a Bogner 4X12 cab loaded with Celestion 25 watt Greenbacks. It sounds awesome. It's a slanted cab and in the top two speakers I installed this: https://www.amazon.com/Sonic-Sound-Products-TAS12-Tilt-A-Speaker/dp/B077SH1NVV So I can hear my cab perfectly. Those "tilt-a-speakers" are just...

    TC50, tube talk

As I understand it...the cryogenic process that they use is what differentiates their tubes. Not sure which tubes they start with, but what they end up with is certainly different than the Mullard you spoke of. Here's what Don at Wathen wrote me when we were discussing the tubes: "Our tubes...

    TC50, tube talk

I got some incredible results from preamp tubes. I got two Wathen 12AX7-WCM Cryotone preamp tubes and put them in the V3 and V4 positions. The tubes are crazy expensive. But they changed the amp tone in a big way! Super quiet tubes, the cryogenic process they use for them gives them a mid-high...
