I'm sure this has been discussed before but with new products being released all the time I thought I'd start a new thread. I'm looking for a recording interface that uses fire wire or maybe even USB with a mic input so I can mic my cab. A built in mic preamp would be preferred as I'd rather...
I put a Tung-Sol 12AX7 in the V1 position of my Mark IV today and my amp just came alive! As much as I love the SED 12AX7's there was just something missing. Both the Tung-Sol and SED tubes have great tone but the Tung-Sols have noticeably more gain. Everything that has been said about these...

So I believe I first saw these in an advertisement for either guitar player or guitar world magazine.
Flapjacks are small PVC discs that you "hook" on the grill cloth of your speaker cabs. They're suppose to "absorb and diffuse" the harsh frequencies that...
I've been hearing a lot of great things about these. It's stated Tung-Sol is New Sensor's "premium" brand of tubes. Does anyone have any experiences with these? How do they compare to other "current production" 12AX7's?

My Orion Custom C-Wah arrived at my doorstep a few days ago. I couldn't be more happy. The C-Wah circuit is based on the old Clyde Picture wah, although it's an "improved circuit" being more transparent. The first thing I noticed was how quiet the C-Wah is. When I first stepped on the footswitch...
Well this is a problem that I've only noticed recently. I'm not even picking up a good radio station, I'm hearing talk radio.
So what could be going on here? My hope is, either I can fix this myself or take it down to my local repair shop.
thanks,

I'm going to re-tube my preamp section. I want to put the quietest tube in V1, so how should I go about doing this? Currently I have the stock Sovtek 12AX7's in my Mark IV, and I'm replacing them with SED 12AX7's. Should I just swap the V1 with each SED tube until I find the quietest one, and...
Are high gain rated preamp tubes really necessary for a "high gain" amp? I definitely have enough gain on my Mark IV with the lead gain and lead drive set to 8 and 7. So I still have room to play with.
I love the SED 6L6's so much that I'm now interested to try their 12AX7's in my Mark IV. At the tubedepot.com they have a few options; high gain, low noise, balanced triodes etc.
My question is what option would work best in each tube position? Balanced triode in the phase inverter, low noise...
Today I turned on my Mark IV, played for a few minutes and I started getting real bad static through the speakers. The static is apparent on all three channels. It also seems to come and go periodically.
For anyone who saw my post on the "tubes" section of the forum my power tube sockets are...
I just moved into a nice two bedroom apartment. The apartment is a 4-plex with people living both above me and across the hallway outside my door.
I switched on my Mark IV today, turned it up to a "reasonable" volume and thought to myself, "This just isn't going to work." I haven't had any...
I'm sure this has been discussed before but I couldn't find anything using the search function.
What's a good contact cleaner brand for cleaning the tube sockets? What do you guys use?
Thanks
After a few weeks having a new set of Chinese 6L6's in my Mark IV I have to swap them out. They're far too noisy and I just don’t like their tone.
The two different tubes I'm considering are the Sovtek 6L6WXT+, and the Winged "C" 6L6GC. I've read good things about both. But how do they...
Granted it's not a Marshall 100 watt plexi, but I'm looking for Page “esque” settings for my Mark IV. For those playing Led Zeppelin songs with a Mark IV what are your settings? Any suggestions..?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
cesjr
I just replaced the power tubes in my Mark IV. I noticed the stock power tubes I pulled out were STR 430's, and I replaced them with STR 440's. I know the 430's are Russian Sovtek, and the 440's are Chinese. So how do they compare? What are the differences between the two?

I'll soon be replacing the power tubes on my Mark IV (the first time I've done a tube replacement.) My question is, should I just swap out preamp tubes as they start to show signs or noise and microphonics? Or is it better to replace all the preamp tubes on a regular basis like the power...
I need some suggestions of what brand of tubes to go with. I love the stock tone, so I'm not interested in power tube substitution. I've heard many people recommend JJ tubes. Are they better than the stock tubes Mesa uses in their amps? How so?
Any other brands I should consider?
Thanks...
Hey everyone, like all high gain amplifiers they can get quite noisy on the lead channels. The Mark IV isn't as bad as most amps out there. But still I'm thinking about getting a ISP Decimator.
Like every Mesa/Boogie Mark owner, I'm a tone fanatic. And I don't want to lose any tone I’ve worked...
