Mark V as a low volume practice rig

Well I'm not alone in liking that 10W mode for home practice. Don't overlook the G12-EVH speaker I mentioned. It is a little bit lower sensitivity which means less volume per watt...that also helps tame the amp and let you turn the amp up and get into the goodness at a lower volume. And it...

    New Fender Amps..

It really depends what you want from your amp. All amps are tradeoffs in my experience, and the choices depend on how you want to use it and your own personal preferences...such as... Tell us more about how you plan to use the amp (home play, small club play, large club play, touring...

Mark V as a low volume practice rig

Just a comment. For at home low volume practice, I put my Mark V in 10 watt mode on all 3 channels and I love it into a single G12-EVH speaker (20 watts) in a Lonestar-23 1x12 cabinet. Mark V goodness without tearing my head off. It's now my main practice rig. When going to 45 or 90W I'll run a...

developed noise in Mark V at startup

I don't do wholesale tube replacements trying to fix problems without diagnosing the problem. It's usually not the tubes, and when it is a tube, it's usually only 1. I tested all the pre amp and power amp tubes on an Orange VT1000 tester, they all passed just fine. I realize that does not rule...

developed noise in Mark V at startup

Thanks for the replies. The power tubes are 2 years old or less. The head is a 2016, not sure what month. And they have not seen very much use. It was shipped across country once, and it has been moved around a few times. So possible a tube got jarred and damaged. I don't have any noise in...

developed noise in Mark V at startup

When I first power on my Mark V, I get some crackling and whooshing. It's still there with input cable removed, so not external source. It's present on all channels, more noticiable as power settings go up from 10->45->90W. Seems to be on all modes, at least in channel 1 - didn't try them all on...

TC50 first impressions and argument to buy

I love my TC-50. With either EL-34's or 6V6's. Currently running the 6V6's. I managed to get a really killer deal on mine...it was a demo marked way down, plus I managed to get an ebay coupon on top of that. Stole it at $1360. Worth every penny, and totally mint - not a mark on it and performs...

    6L6 vs. EL-34 in Mark V

In the end (if I'm ever at the end?) I decided to keep my 6L6's in the Mark V because my favorite part of the Mark V is channel 1. Great cleans...I really like all 3 voices, especially Fat and Tweed. Thanks to all who shared their experience on this thread. Helpful and interesting...including...

TC-50 samples into vert 2x12 w/EVH's - classic rock no metal

Cool. Kinda metal for my tastes, but I'm a gear junkie so all experiments and variants of tone are interesting. :) I've been thinking about getting an ISO cab...or making one.

    reverb cables

Even though this is a really old post I'm going to add a comment some other lucky soul might stumble on to while experiencing a working tank but with a high pitched noise / whine. It is a reverb tank cable orientation issue. On the Mark V and on the TC 50 - the white (unshielded, skinny)...

TC-50 samples into vert 2x12 w/EVH's - classic rock no metal

Thanks so much for the kind comments. Yes, it was through the EVH's the whole way. I've been playing the amp through a lonestar 23 extension cabinet with a C90 the last couple days and have some similar tones dialed in there too. I'll probably stick one of those in the combo so it's safe for...

TC-50 samples into vert 2x12 w/EVH's - classic rock no metal

Here's a sampling of sounds I was able to get out of my TC-50 in the first couple hours after it arrived. The playing is pretty sloppy as I was really short on sleep and also wasn't paying as much attention to playing as to the sounds I was trying to get out of the amp...

    Got one

Thanks for mentioning that mixed mode. I gotta check that out! I must have overlooked it in the manual. Still getting to know my TC-50. I bought a lonestar 23 cabinet from The Guitar Store in Seattle. I have to say they were very attentive with phone calls and assistance...I was trying to get...

Triple Crown TC-50 MIDI 256 presets

Thanks guys. The amp gizmo looks interesting. I've gotta look more into midi switchers for pedal effects. I've not been happy with multi-effects units I've tried before. Plus the notion of running the Mark V and TC-50 and controlling those 6 channels could be worth it... I've mostly simplified...

Triple Crown TC-50 MIDI 256 presets

The Mesa Official Demo of the TC-50 on YouTube has a response from MESA about the MIDI controls: "The MIDI function controls Channels, Reverb, FX Loop and Solo but it does not save information of the rotary controls. Those remain full analog/manual pots." So I guess this begs the question...

    Got one

So I'm curious about the voicings of the channels and if it can get the sounds I'm after. What I would really like is 3 channels and the full footswitching capabilities of this amp, where the 3 channels can get rectifier sounds as Ch 1 - clean, Ch 2-pushed, and Channel 3- Vintage or Modern...

    6L6 vs. EL-34 in Mark V

I'm curious if anyone has tried fresh 6L6's vs. fresh EL-34's in their Mark V? I watched a comparison video and other than the cleans sounding slightly fatter with the 6L6's, it didn't seem like much of a difference.

    Recommendations for loop switcher

Well how about that. I had tried the one control with a Mark V:35, but not the V. And what ever was going on with the V35, it isn't happening on the V. So my one control will work fine. It sounds good, no noise or coloration I can discern. Still interested in switching solutions others use...
