Express Plus 5:25 Bass Way Down Still Flabby

Sax - yes, I can certainly get the Mesa to "flab out" with the bass up on the burn channel, but it's nothing like what I was experiencing on the 25's burn channel. I do have the bass between 9-10 o'clock, mid @ noon, treble @ 2 o'clock and gain around 6-7 o'clock. With the neck pickup I can...

Any new Express Plus owners care to share your opinions?

FYI folks, after a week or two of honeymoon, if you see some of my other posts, I was falling out of love with the 5:25+ combo. Had some flabbiness that I could not dial out for the life of me, significant popping when channel switching, and amp started buzzing from inside yesterday (very...

Express Plus 5:25 Bass Way Down Still Flabby

Swapped it with a 5:50+ and so far very happy with the swap. Maybe I had a "bad one" or maybe it was bad tubes, or maybe I just like the 6L6s better, but for whatever reason, there is minimal flab, the gain sounds better, so I think this one is a keeper.

Loud POP Switching Channels Express Plus 5:25

Hey, quick update - popping never went away, and I had some other issues (flabby bottom end, physical buzzing sound coming from inside the amp) so I took it back and swapped it for a 5:50+ Minimal popping...not sure if my amp was a bad one or not...but happy w the swap.

Express Plus 5:25 Bass Way Down Still Flabby

OK, so I have read all I can find, and spent hours with this thing, and I still cannot for the life of me "dial the flab" out of this little combo on the Burn channel. I've got the gain @ 12:00, Treble @ 2:00, Middle @ 10:30, Bass @ 9:00, with various combinations of off, present and EQ. With...

Loud POP Switching Channels Express Plus 5:25

I noticed that my popping does indeed get less noticeable when the amp is running awhile, but it never really goes away.

Loud POP Switching Channels Express Plus 5:25

I should have clarified...that was MESA support that told me that. I am very disappointed. Gonna look at the next level Blackstar up from my 40, has a solo boost like the 5:25, and an added presence control that might open up the amp a bit so I won't need to clean boost it to get more high end...

Loud POP Switching Channels Express Plus 5:25

Thanks, Pat - got it from a local Guitar Center less than two weeks ago, I think that may be the best route as well. I'll let you know how it goes... UPDATE: they called back and indicated that this is "normal" behavior. Guy on the phone was a CS rep, had to "relay" my concern to a tech. I...

Loud POP Switching Channels Express Plus 5:25

FYI left 2 messages for Boogie support over two days, not even an acknowledgement. Maybe the Boogie's going back...PRS support always responds within max one business day. Premium price should = premium service.

Loud POP Switching Channels Express Plus 5:25

Still happening...independent of wattage settings, louder when switching from Clean/Crunch to Blues/Burn...very loud even with amp volume down low. Re-seated footswitch cable on both ends...it happens without the footswitch also (with amp mini-toggle only and FS unplugged)...

Loud POP Switching Channels Express Plus 5:25

New user, searched and could not find specific details, so sorry if this is a known issue of common. I get a very loud POP when switching channels on my new E+ 5:25. Running CH1 on 5W, CH2 on 15W, but it seems pretty consistently loud no matter what settings. Any ideas?

DC-5 Rev B New User Question

Thanks for the additional info. I am not super technical, but I think the reasons why the DC-5 didn't work for me came down to wattage and the way the gain channel worked. The Express Plus 5:25 I returned it for nails the dirty sound I want perfectly - burn mode with gain around 10:30 -...

Any new Express Plus owners care to share your opinions?

Just brought a new 5:25 + home today (layaway) and I am absolutely in love with it. The 5W sounds are amazing, just what I was looking for, and plenty of stuff to play along with. I played the 5:50 + too, sounds great but I prefer the 84s, and as I get older, 25W is more than enough amp for me...

    EP Booster

The (relatively) new TC Spark has bass, treble, & gain controls as well, and a 3-position mini-toggle to affect the overall EQ. I used it to great effect in front of my Blackstars, don't need it on my Express+ but you may have better luck with that, much more control. I think Fulltone makes a...

DC-5 Rev B New User Question

FYI A-B'd this against a new Express Plus 5:25 and 5:50 @ my local GC; took back the DC-5 it is just too much amp for what I need, sounded much better at earsplitting levels but most of my playing is low volume. I am in love with the Express Plus 5:25 on the 5-watt setting, has all of the...

DC-5 Rev B New User Question

Played around for another hour or so, straight into both amps, and with the TC Spark set for some gain on both. Same results, comparable - the Blackstar gets alot more of the harmonics. It sounds closer to the Boogie with the OD channel voicing switch in (low power amp damping). The Spark...

DC-5 Rev B New User Question

Had a DC-5 Rev A brand new many years ago, never really appreciated it when I had it, then got out of music and sold it. Now back in and happy to have a DC-5 (Rev B) back again. So here is a question that may be subjective, but I will give it a shot... The amp that I am "used to" now since I...

    The Official DC Club

Just re-joined...had a DC-5 brand new around 92, got out of music and sold it around 99...and one just arrived at my door after a long time of searching for one in good shape not too far from my house. No pics yet...but a few things different than I remember. 1) Don't remember the footswitch...
