Creating a DC Register for Serial# Dating

I just bought a DC-5b from a guy in Colorado. 02701 I don't know what year it was made. It's in really good shape.

New to amplifiers. Considering Mark IV, or DC-5, or....

It came! I haven't had time to turn it on yet. I'll get to do that tonight.

I think the main visual difference is a white rounded box around the eq toggle. The schematics I downloaded has a separate set for the B. I'm not very familiar with schematics, so I'm not sure exactly what the differences are. Anyway, I've decided on the DC-5 so I can afford other gear to go...

Well, I've never used an amp before so I don't have anything effects-wise right now. However in the future if I do some live playing, I might want to do it. I am however interested in the master volume mod. I just found a schematic here...

Is there a part list available so I can find out what caps I need? My dad builds/repairs amps for a hobby/side job so I'll probably get him to do it for me.

Well, I went with the hardly used amp because it is a B model. I should have a DC-5 combo at my door by Monday or Tuesday. Woohoo! In the mean time I'm researching isolation cabs. Any one have experience with them? Certain brands better than others?

Yeah... oh well. Would it bet better to buy a DC-5 that has barely been used. Or one that has been used a lot, but serviced regularly?

Man I was so close to snagging a Mark IV combo that was damaged in shipping (just the cab) for $500... he was going to ship it today and then a local guy offering $600 cash swooped in and ruined my day... Oy.

    Mark IV user manual?

Does any one have a pdf of the Mark IV user manual? Mesaboogie.com seems to be down right now.

I've looked a few times, but they never have mesa boogie as an available brand, and search brings up nothing. Am I doing it wrong? lol. EDIT: I went back and clicked something differently and it took me to a different section of the site than before... weird. There's actually a combo (looks...

And it sold before he got back to me. The market is REALLY slow for these... Only 1 on Ebay and it looks like an A model.

He says his friend is a Luthier and an Amp guru... for whatever that's worth. He doesn't answer my specific questions, just says it is in great condition and sounds great...

I'm looking at a head right now. I believe it would be a B, the footswitch has two buttons. They guy says he's had it for 6 months and it is it great condition. It belonged to his friend who he says is a gear freak and maintains his equipment. Going to ask about those particular things you...

Yeah that one looks nice but that converts to about $1500 which is $400 over my budget. Then shipping... ouch.

Yeah I think I'm going to go with a DC-5 for now. That said... when shopping on ebay is there anything I should look out for, red flags etc...or any questions I should ask the seller?

Let's steer away from the volume issue, It's not high on my priority list. Back to my original question, Go ahead and blow my tax refund on a Mark IV? Save some cash on a DC-3 or DC-5. Will I be sacrificing too much tone to save a few hundred dollars? Is the shared tone controls on the Mark...

Well, I guess I should say that I haven't really played in a while and I don't have the set up for the modeling anymore. This is kind of my reward for starting a practice regimen. I would definitely want to hear the amp when I get it! Well like I said, in the future I will probably gig with...

Yeah you may have a point, and I can't say because I have no experience, but I don't think I will mind having to tweak. And between this site and others I'm sure I can find settings that would make good starting points. But good point to consider. Another factor I've read about is that the...

Hello, I've been lurking for a while reading up. I've decided to get serious with my guitar playing and need an amplifier. Up to now I have just been using software modeling plugins. I really like the sound of the Mark IV, big fan of Petrucci's sound. Not really trying to nail that, but I love...
