I have owned and played tons of amps, always got into effects with them. I now own my first Boogie Recto and man ,I am used to stompboxes and miss the effects but, I am getting such GREAT tone out of the amp without them. My question is, does anyone use effects that make it sound even better...

Tried unplugging the footswitch and manually changing channels on the back and it didnt help. I think I have tracked it down to a bad #2 preamp 12AX7

Got the Recto 50 series 2... I swapped out the EL34's w/6L6's and everything was great. Today though after playing about 40 minutes it flat cutout ...no sound period. Funny thing was I could switch to my channel 1 and it was fine, channel 2 nothing... switched it off, waited about 40 minutes...

He must have a GREAT PR guy, not many people could even pretend to be that weird.

Your right, I'm a goof. :oops: They were EL34's not 84's. But seems the cleans sparkle more to my ear with the 6l6 's and you really dont loose that much gain.

I just bought a Boogie single rec. Excellent condition and had two sets of power tubes. EL84's and 6L6's. I couldnt believe it when I switched the tubes out with the 6L6's and liked the sound better in the modern/pushed setting!. I was thinking el's would make it more Marshall like and that...

My take on it was this: Nugent - as pig headed,stubborn,egotistical and always right as usual. Bonom - can be very cool Ian - very cool and one that looked easy to work with. Bach - a whiney drunk who's talent hit early and is on its way out. Bass player dude? - has a hot wife..... :lol:
