you could use a mesa v-twin preamp into a clean. they pop up on ebay and in the classifieds now and then. its real mesa tube distortion. they are a bit more than a regular stompbox @ 2-300 bucks but IMO are well worth it. plus u can try out all sorts of tubes :wink:
