Re: Rectoverb 25 - External Midi Switching Help Needed!!!

Thanks Dom, I need to mess with it more today. I have always used this particular Control Switcher in Momentary mode with an old Rivera amp. I set it up for Latching, but it just wasn't acting right. I re-set it for Momentary and tried it with the amp, the same thing happened. I then re-set it for L...

Rectoverb 25 - External Midi Switching Help Needed!!!

Today I hooked my old Digitech GSP1101 to my Rectoverb 25. I had it sounding incredible. I was using my Voodoo Lab Control Switcher (set to Latching) to control channels on the amp. It was working just fine for about an hour, then it stopped switching the amp. The amp gets stuck in Lead channel. I c...

DC-3B Firebreather Mod!

I've been a little bored with my DC-3 lately, so I thought I would come up with a new set of mods for it. My DC has a full set of Mercury Magnetics transformers, including a choke. Not sure how these mods will work with a stock amp, but I bet they'll sound great! I wanted the following from my amp: ...

Re: Rectoverb 25 combo - Does it sound small?

Well......... After owning the amp for a month, I have this to say: Clean Channel: This channel sounds pretty amazing, even next to my 1970 Twin Reverb. I really hated the super low headroom though. I added a 1uf Cathode Bypass cap to V1B. This is the 3rd gain stage for the clean channel. There was ...

Re: WTB Mesa combo cabinet for a Studio Caliber

I have one that you can just have. You have to pay shipping though, which will be about $100. I can ship it Parcel Post for a lot less, but it takes a few weeks. I haven't been receiving emails from the forum, so shoot me an email andy at amps - tubes dot com It does not have a speaker or reverb tan...

Re: Need to build a snake for a pedal board

How many cables do you need in your snake? Do you need midi? Are you using 4CM (4 Cable Method)? I have a few spares that I'd like to get rid of. I don't mind changing the ends for you either. I don't mind giving you a good price either. They are just hanging in my music room and need a good home! S...

Re: Rectoverb 25 combo - Does it sound small?

I tried other speakers, but the cabinet seems to be the dominant factor. I'm curious what you find, though. I went to a MV:25, then a Shiva, then a RA100, then Mark V (which I hated), then back to the RA100, and now an Archon 100. I'm thinking of getting a Single Rec Rectoverb or Solo head as well ...

Re: To buy a DC-10 or not...

The DC is definitely not going to sound like a Marshall, but it is made a million times better. Better parts, better engineering, better internal layout. I had 3 TSL100's before I got my first Mesa. I actually traded a TSL122 for a Dual Rectifier (first Mesa amp) and was sold ever since. Tone is sub...

Re: Need new tubes for my Roadster

Doug's Tubes has a good "Cocktail" for a Mesa amp. It sounds really good in my DC-3.
I think I used the same set in my old Roadking when I had it.

Re: Rectoverb 25 combo - Does it sound small?

 I think it needs Cannabis......err.....that is...I mean......HEMP! I bet a Cannabis Rex would do wonders for the ROV. It turned my DC-3 into a keeper. I'm thinking: DC-3 & ROV 25 in stereo I've got an old Digitech GSP1101 (sounds better than a G-Major 2, G-System, etc., once you ...

Re: Rectoverb 25 combo - Does it sound small?

1x12 Filmore was stiffer than John Holmes.   I saw one of his movies when I was a kid. There wasn't enough blood in his body to make that thing work right...... I recommend you read my old reviews on the RV25 combo. It's very boxy-sounding. I suspect you could do better if you put i...

Re: Rectoverb 25 combo - Does it sound small?

Thanks guys! I don't like the EL84 sound of the Rectoverb. I tried it in a store and it was a miserable and embarrassing experience for me, because I didn't feel inspired at all on Channel 2. That seemed strange, since I'm so Pro-Recto. I know some of the others like it, so maybe I just wasn't lucky...

Re: Rectoverb 25 combo - Does it sound small?

Forgot to mention...... I'm currently playing in a 4 piece cover band. I'm the only guitar player. We use acoustic drums. I have been using a 20/20 power amp and Triaxis and it is the perfect volume. I think I run the power amp volumes around 9:30-10:00 and it is loud We cover everything from James ...
