Re: Road King 2x12 vs Carvin Legacy 2x12

I looked into a Carvin Legacy 2X12 cab because I kept seeing them for dirt cheap on various sites. The reviews on them are mixed. I do know this: a Mesa 2X12 will not disappoint. Yes, you are gonna pay more than you would for a typical 2X12, but it will be worth it. I've seen quite a few players usi...

Congrats on the amazing deal.

I would have picked it up too if they were selling it for that little!

Re: Came back home to the Lonestar Classic. Feels good! New

My biggest complaint is the lack of headroom when playing cleanly. When playing with a drummer, I had to nearly dime my LSC when playing cleanly. Even though I changed the speakers in my 4X10 to ceramics, I still had headroom issues. If you mic the cab, you should be just fine. But then that leads i...

Re: what are the fillmore speakers?

Whether I'm playing clean or distorted stuff, I am a big fan of the Vintage 30s that Mesa uses in their cabs. I just don't see the Fillmores being able to compete with the Vintage 30s.

That being said, I look forward to trying out a cab with Fillmores. :)

Re: Lonestar living up to its reputation

I'd like to hear that '64 Fender! But yeah, so far as the Lonestar goes, she is much happier when ran through a 2X12 instead of a 4X10. I've decided to put a jack on the 4X10 and sell that cab as it just doesn't do it for me. The drive channel was quite a chore with 10" speakers but is easier to pla...

In response to the post above mine, I feel the same way every time I see Dual Rectifier on a Blue Angel head. :?

Re: Came back home to the Lonestar Classic. Feels good! New

I was going to sell my LSC to help fund a custom power amp. I just couldn't do it though. I am compromising though: I'm having a speaker jack installed on my 4X10 combo cab and selling it; but the LSC chassis stays with me. The chassis will eventually go into a head shell. I'm also bonding with the ...

Re: Rectoverb 25 Dual Rec Videos Released On Youtube!

No tube rectifier option or spongy/tweed option on this model, but don't let that dissuade you from checking out the amp. You may decide you don't miss the tube rectifier. As much as I love tube rectifiers, one of my favorite power amps of all time is the 50/50, which has no tube rectifier. Mike Sol...

I'm a reverb pan kind of guy, so this thing has my attention.

Glad I didn't purchase a Mini Recto.

Re: Amp Bias Match Meter--MKllC Bias HELP is 70ma too hot

So I'm assuming each tube is running @ 34.5 mA to 35.0 mA... Based on that reading and your estimation for the plate voltage, you're running the tubes @ 55% of their max plate dis. Many Boogie owners claim that sweet spot is @ 60% of the max plate dis. Seems to me like you're right in the ball park ...

Re: mesa maverick.

So far as that reverb problem, make sure that you have the right type of tube in there. My Lonestar is supposed to have a 12AX7 in the reverb slot. I foolishly put a 12AU7 in there. As I turned up the volume, the screech got louder. Other amps I've had, to include Mesa amps, have never been so...

Let the fellas on the board know which album you're most interested in emulating.

And be patient with waiting for a response...somebody will eventually give you some good info!

Re: Adjustable bias mod

I bias my Boogies in tweed/spongy mode because that's all I play. If I were to flip to full/bold, I'd redplate the tubes because I run my tubes @ 70% max plate dis in tweed/spongy. I recommend you bias to whichever power mode is your cup of tea. If you like to switch, then you're gonna have to bias ...

Re: Why wont anyone post th MA reading of the Mesa power tub

If you look at some of my posts, you will find some information about the mA reading of some Mesa tubes. Try searching "talltxguy roadster bias results" for some info. I also posted some info about the Lonestar and the DC-3. I think it'd be cool if we were able to have some database that provides mA...
