Re: WTB Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp

If you don't see one on CL or EBAY, try Guitar Center's used pages. Sometimes they have some amazing deals.

Dimarzio Injectors & Area 61

Oh yeah...if you have not tried them, give them a whirl! I really really dig the neck Injector for soloing. It's been so long since I could solo comfortably with a single coil neck pup. And with the 61 in the middle, the 2-slot of my Strat is quite nice - not too glassy but quite good. Thanks to Dim...

Re: Custom Power Amp finally in the house!

It's been nearly two years and I am still rolling with the same power amp. It's simply a miracle.

I have never owned a piece of gear for this long and not had any inclination to replace it.

Re: marshall JCM 800

The music I grew up on in the 80s used a lot of JCM 800s. There's just a connection there that will last with me until I die. I finally got one, so to speak, when Rob from Jaded Faith mods create a JCM 800 module for my RM4 preamp. I have been and am still in love with it, which is amazing for a ton...

Replaced the C90 with Celestion G12H 30 watter

I was wanting to push my Thiele cab, so I replaced the C90 with a Celestion G12H 30 watter. I was extremely happy with the result. More presence and upper mids - not so dark sounding - absolutely perfect for my JCM 800 module. For those of you who have Thieles, don't be afraid to experiment with som...

Mesa Boogie Studio Pre

I'm putting my SP on EBAY. The exterior is a bit rough, but it had a cap job last summer and sounds wonderful. Rack ears are not standard but work perfectly. No reverb pan included.

Re: Custom Power Amp finally in the house!

Ok, the amp is finally finished. Dan Lurie from FYD Amps added a faceplate, new knobs, a NFB pot, and the cathode/fixed bias switch.

Re: Who is your guitar hero and what's your iconic guitar to

It's a tough question - narrowing down all the great ones. There's just so many guys that are so good and have inspired me to try and get better. How about a list instead of one player? :) BTW, I put my iconic guitar tones in parentheses. Frank Hannon (solo tone from "Paradise"), Mark Kendall (solo ...

Re: Did You Get The Memo?

Authorized Boogie,

Thank you for the information. So if I'm understanding things correctly, the 5th gain stage of the Roadster's 3rd & 4th channels is actually a cathode follower?

Re: Did You Get The Memo?

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have a question about the cathode follower thing. Mesa says V3 & V5 are the cathode followers in the Roadster. I checked the manual to see tube functions, and V3A is the channel 3 & 4's 4th gain stage, and V3B is channel 3 & 4's the 5th gain stage. V3A & V3B cann...

Re: marshall JCM 800

I'm curious about this as well as I have not played through an older JCM 800.

Do the early JCM 800s that you're talking about have 3 gain stages and a cathode follower?
