Re: Help a new Boogie owner

Try this to get in the Keef ball park. Big fan here - I own his two 9X10 cabs he used on the Steel Wheels tour. I bought them from Andy Marshall (THD) who built them for him. Gain - 7 Treble -7 Mid - 4 or more Bass - 2 Presence - 5 or less. You well need to fine tune for your guitar/pick ups/speakers.

Re: Help a new Boogie owner

I have used the EQ and tone controls to help with the problem of volume and how we hear. Here is a clue - The lower the volume the bigger the smile shape needs to be on the 5 band for your ears to hear about the same tone shape. But no. I think of the EQ more like channel switching to a different to...

Re: Tool / Adam Jones Sound

Thats the one. For me anyone who has been a fan before Undertow can use it. Hooker with a .... tells the rest of the story.

I am sure you people know my post are best guess with this stuff.

For me Enima just has great guitar tone, my personal fav. of theTool catalog.

Did you look at the return jack ? It is a stereo jack that "comes on" when pluged in.

Re: V30 in Mark IV

I have a 16/ V30 in mine. Most speakers and I know this is true of Celestions can take twice the power rating. They just do not last as long. I have been turning this combo up for 8 years. If you turn it up you are on your own.

I did not know. :)

"I guess my biggest issue is I can't seem to control the EQ."

I like the shapes with all the Mesa amps that have a 5 band that I have played with.

Re: Help a new Boogie owner

There is three basic EQ shapes that I always go back to. The shapes work well with single/humbucker/P-90. 80 240 750 2200 6600 ++ + - + ++ Rhythm, clean ++ + -- - ++ Rhythm + ++ ++ - + Lead You can try them with any gain or voice Any place that has a (-) slide that up and down for a lot of tone shap...

Re: Classic rock tones

The crunch is a lot like a 800 that was about ten years and one more gain stage than the stuff in the 1st post. Crunch is the sound I use the most. You can get them tones there. But it well be a little less open than the amps from the early 60's/70's.
