Re: Here's what Fractal is doing to our music

You sure do like to reply to your own posts.  While I'll admit whatever that 3rd thing you posted was sounded terrible, I can assure you the Axe FX II (or generation 1 standard and ultra) do anything BUT kill tone. I can make any amp or device sound bad with bad settings. I've owned a bu...

Re: Nomad 55 1x12 value?

These are not wildly-popular amps. A 55 combo was my first Boogie purchased around 05. I think I paid $575 and sold it for about the same (after I bought a Mark IV). I think Don's estimate is pretty accurate; $550 is about middle of the market.

Re: Why do you players sell their LS Specials?

I think for some players the LSS suffers from basically the same issue as the LSC, which is that it doesn't do the "crunch" rhythm thing the way many people are used to getting from a Marshall typically. (I think this is what screamingdaisy is referring to?) I concur, neither of these amps are real...

Re: Can't clean up my DC-5's lead channel with volume roll b

If you don't want to mod it (and there are MANY mods here for the DC-5), then tubes will only scratch the surface. I agree with what Don has written; we did similar things to our DC-3s, which have an amazing rhythm channel but a stubborn lead channel.

Re: Why do you players sell their LS Specials?

For me, I found the express 5:25's (non plus and plus) to sound just as good, for the sounds I want from an amp. Since they are smaller and much lighter, it was a no brainer for me. And yes, I still own the original 5:25 and the plus. Also, when I had the LSS (it was a head and 4/10 cab) I pretty m...

Check out these guys: https://southcreekaudio.com/

I've been using their mic cables, and so far so good. Can't beat the price, and build quality is excellent.

A front-loaded speaker is supposed to be less focused, like a flood light, whereas rear loading is supposed to be more focused, like a spot light. I think front-loading is supposed to be a bit brighter; rear-loading thumpier. So I've heard...

Re: Mark IV Lead Channel problem

Could be a bad triode in a preamp tube. Does the squeal change if you lower the gain and master?

Re: Trouble with Mesa EL84's?

DC's are know to run hot. My DC-3 is biased at nearly 100% of mpd, waaay hotter than any other Mesa. I had redplating problems too. Tubes from Eurotubes helped, but after spraying the tube pins with deoxit, it hasn't replated since.

There are two board members you can try, stokes (on Staten Island) or Boogiebabies in the Catskills. PM them and see what pops up.

Was the Bugle Boy made in the Herleen, Holland plant? I install at least one Herleen tube in my Mark amps.

I love my Strat through my C+.

Re: Tonepros Bridges

I just installed a Tonepros AVR-1 bridge on my Les Paul and it made an immediate difference in loudness and sustain. Even without tightening the set screws the difference was massive. Just incredible. The bridge that came with the guitar is such junk, I never would have thought a bridge could make ...
