Re: Roadster power tube options

So I see Mesa lists the STR-445 as from Slovakia, that would indeed make them JJ.

Good to see the new offerings from Mesa.

Re: Roadster power tube options

If you want something a bit different, you may want to try the Mesa STR445 which is the JJ6L6 tube........ Are you 100% certain of this? Looking at the picture of the STR-445 on the Mesa Store and the plate structure looks different than the JJ’s. Have you confirmed this with tubes side by side?

I’m building a custom cab to use with the Recto-Verb 25. Will it power 2 of the fm-75s ?
Absolutely. Are you using 16 ohm speakers in parallel? That will give you an 8 ohm cabinet.

Re: Help installing tubes in a Rev G

......... but as far as installing them, its a good idea to wear gloves so you don't get any oil from your fingers on them. Gloves are unnecessary, these are vacuum tubes, not halogen light bulbs. I’ve rolled dozens of tubes, no gloves, no issues. One problem I noticed is on the red channel. The ga...

Re: NOS 12AX7 tubes for Cathode follower ?

I tried a JAN / GE 12AX7WA in V3 as well, I felt it made the amp a bit stiff, and a bit ‘too much’ in the upper mids/treble. My Roadster is modded, and is a bit brighter in the upper mids already. So far my favorite V3 tube is the Ruby HG 7025 (Chinese). I have the same in V5. Going to try the JAN /...

Re: Single Rectifier 50 Head with ISP Decimator Issues

I’m surprised to hear of the tone issues. When I first got the LLS-2 I did have to tweak the FX send level (on the rear) to get unity gain in the G-System, but no tone loss at all. I used my master ‘All Bypass’ patch and switched the loop in and out, there was hardly any difference in core tone and ...

Re: NOS 12AX7 tubes for Cathode follower ?

FYI-
I tried an RFT in V3 of the Roadster, lasted about 5 seconds then I lost all sound on Ch 3&4. Put a Chinese back in and all is good.

Last time I used the RFT (not in a cathode follower spot) it worked, so I know it was a good tube.

Re: Single Rectifier 50 Head with ISP Decimator Issues

I don’t even know it’s there, except that I no longer clip the digital converter in my G-System which actually makes the rig sound better.

Are you playing the rig at band / gig volume?

Re: Single Rectifier 50 Head with ISP Decimator Issues

I tried to reply to your PM, but the forum tells me 'page not found' when I submitt my message. Yes, the Ebtech unit (the one you linked in the PM) goes between the amp and pedals. You would use both side of the unit. The LLS-2 is a two channel level converter. Each channel has a +4dB jack, and a -1...

Re: Single Rectifier 50 Head with ISP Decimator Issues

Thanks Dom, My amp tech thought the same about being hot. First thing out of preamp section is loop. I will look into the line levelers. Would I need to add dB to the amp side? Already using Fortin 33 boost on front end. The head sounds super killer as long as I keep the preamp below 10 o clock. Wh...

Re: Single Rectifier 50 Head with ISP Decimator Issues

The signal from the Rectifier FX loop is super hot.

I’ve had good luck using the Ebtech Line Leveler.

+4dB on the amp side, -10dB on the loop side.

Re: How to take off the front grill of an OS 4x12?

The front grill is screwed on from behind (inside the cabinet)

You have to take off the back, then you will see the screws holding on the grill.

Re: Road King. Tremolo like volume fluctuations

Just chiming in cause I just grabbed a used RK MK1 and I’m experiencing the same thing. I’ve only had it a week now but was worried a re tube was needed, but from the sounds of it that might not do the trick. Russian preamp tubes in certain positions can cause volume fluctuations. There is a Mesa S...

Re: Roadster and Helix Help

I've been digging about this issue, but I feel like I keep running into dead-ends. I'm currently playing a Roadster and looking to add some form of Helix version (Rack, LT or HX effects) to simplify my having to tap dance on pedals for many things. From what I've been reading a Midi Controller is w...
