ch 3 (esp extreme) is satanic loud in 90 watts, not sure what you're talking about. really depends on your volume and output settings obviously as well.

Re: My first day with the Mark V and I'm really underwhelmed

that being said, i'm still not sold on ch 2. it's better than a IV but even with EL34's I can't cop marshall tones really. the amp is somewhat sterile to my ears. i just ran ch 2 crunch 10 watts with gain and treble max'd out. sounded pretty damn good and marshally to my ears with my LP. efx loop i...

Re: Mark V issue. Well maybe. Please help

mark i mode is very dark and thick and fluid, yes. if you dime the treble and gain in any amp, you're likely going to hear some squealing at one point or another. although I just did that with ch2 crunch and it didn't squeal at all in the house in 10 watts. so perhaps you have a microphonic preamp t...

Re: Post your best Marshall settings for Channel 2 with EL34s

I maxed out the gain and treble in ch 2 in crunch mode (10 watts) and it sounded pretty damn good and close to a Marshall with my LP.

Re: Post your best Marshall settings for Channel 2 with EL34s

my stiletto II has more gain on tap than the M5 it seems. I can pull off pinched harmnonics easier with the stiletto...

target tone being RHCP BSSM tones or led zep or similar. something with more gain than AC/DC I guess so JCM800 territory.

Re: My first day with the Mark V and I'm really underwhelmed

i ran my M5 thru the gflex 212 (spkrs based on V30s) and the g major in the loop and it sounded great cranked with the petrucci settings. I really like the fat clean and the IIC+ modes. very tight amp, ready for anything, and I'm dying to hear it with a 7 string. i'd take a marshall over a boogie fo...

Re: Mark V in 10 watts

i have a feeling i may end up selling the M5 (too soon to tell but that's my gut feeling) and keeping the Rivera and Stiletto for now. I just wish the stiletto had more of that marshall bite/grind/crunch/bark. I need to try the Marshall JVM as well... The JVM is nice. I tried it. Probably the best ...

Re: Average warm up time?

Switching the amp on and immediately out of standby will not hurt the amp at all, it will just shorten the life of the powertubes. Dom +1 also when you shutdown, the standby is not a factor (i.e. you can turn off standby and turn off power at the same time, standby is really only designed for warmi...

Re: mesa WONT warranty groove tube equipped amps

The rule I heard from mesa hollywood (John) a while back is this: you can use any tubes you want however, if the power tube shorts and takes out a screen grid resistor, the warranty is now void (if you had non mesa tubes in the amp at the time). which they won't know if you swap in mesa tubes before...

Re: need advice on supposed amp damage during UPS delivery

update: amp was returned to me for full refund. I did a full retube and it turns on but no sound when I turn off standby (operational). I tried different speaker jacks, etc. So now I need to do a damage claim with UPS/office depot (the shipper) and have a tech fix the amp. 1) Never going to be a H&K...

Re: just bought a used/mint Mark V

So I jammed alone at the studio with my Mesa 412 (halfback 600 watt cab). It was very loud at 45 and 90 watt settings. But even with EL34's wasn't getting the mid-range compression/crunch I was expecting. It's a very tight amp much like the III and IV I had. Also noticed that when I disengage the e...
