Re: JJ E34L in a mark V with no bias mod?

I doubt that Mesa factory says it's ok to use 4xEL34(L) in an amp that does not have a 6L6/EL34 switch. I love E34L's but don't recommend using 4 of them in this amp...

Re: So, what amps do you own?

Rivera S120 Marshal 40C I run them simul via the Tera Echo boss pedal. very very authoritative tones (I also use TS808 maxon OD) This is finally a rig that I'm happy enough with that has at least temporarily killed all amp GAS (the rivera has waaaaay more bass on tap than the marshall so the mix is ...

Re: Alex Lifeson using Mark V live

When you've got Lamb of God, one of Alanis Morrisette's axemen, Dream Theater, Alex Lifeson and Walter Trout playing 'em along with one in the current Slash band lineup, plus the various styles that the boys and girls of this forum play: you've got to say "damn thats a versatile mofo of an amp"... ...

Alex Lifeson using Mark V live

I just read in the latest GP mag that Alex Lifeson is using a Marshall silver jubilee for dirty and Mark V for cleans (yes, the cleans on the V are awesome). He's using H&K and some other head as well and a mesa hi gain amp switcher.

check it out, that dude has sick sounds...

Re: Peavey 6534+

cranked yesterday at studio with gflex 212 (post past noon on both channels, i.e. very loud). It's surprisingly quiet for that much gain. I liked the crunch mode in ch1 the best, lead sounds way too similar to ch1 crunch. For $700 used it's a good deal but I may need to try some JJ's as well (stock ...

Re: Peavey 6534+

got it today and it tested out fine. couldn't crank at home but it's pretty decent for cleans, crunch and lead. although somewhat mushy with the gain around noon. so if you like to play jazz chords with distortion (E7#9) then it may be an issue. i'll update after studio jam/test. sounds pretty damn ...
