This is my fave, been with me since March 1980. How fitting that it's soon to be the silver anniversary of my Silverburst! http://home.comcast.net/~cvansickle/G-LP001.jpg Current pickups are Duncans, a 59 neck and Custom 5 bridge. I added the TP6 tailpiece in 1985, and a Groove Tubes Fathead in 198...

Artingers are extremely cool. As are the ones built by custom luthiers like Joe Driskill, Scott Heatley, Ron Thorn, etc. However, my preference is PRS.

M Audio Delta 1010/PC for about 3 1/2 years. I love it! The one thing you need to do when looking at this kind of stuff is make sure you have PLENTY of RAM (minimum of 1GB) and a separate hard drive for your data.

At home most of the time, but occasionally I gig with it at church. Yeah, I get to blast my full stack from the pulpit.

Hey Ned, I just found this thread and I have to ask if Tokai is still making the Love Rock (Les Paul STD copy). I tried one back in the mid 80's and was blown away by it, but I was told not too long ago that they had been out of production since the late 80's. Are there any of them still around?

Thnx lance for the info good advice. I tried a 5150 cab and found it to be a lil hollow like dongh1217 said earler. Not a fan here. I agree that the M/B cab is overpriced new. For now I am using this: http://img225.echo.cx/img225/420/srhiwatt3wx.th.jpg I am still leaning towards a Marshall though H...

The Marshall1960 cab is actually even a lot tighter than the Mesa trad cab, thanks to the speakers. V30s dont have the tightest bass response, matter of fact the low end on em can get distorted and muddy pretty quick if you arent careful with your EQ settings. I play mostly hardcore and metal, and ...

Dylan,

I have several songs of various styles that I did with my Dual Recto (EL-34's and THD Yellowjackets into V-30 and Greenback loaded Marshall 4X12's). Shoot me an email with the style you are looking for and I'll link you to what I have.

Thanks. Is there a noticeable difference switching from 6L6s to EL34s? Mine has new 6L6s in it, but I have 4 somewhat new EL34s from my JSX laying around that I thought I might try in it. I'm really aiming for a more modern, tight, heavy sound... and so far in my JSX, the 6L6 has gotten me closer t...

The short reply is YES! They make a huge difference. There have been a few threads about different tube combinations lately, but nothing beats listening to a few combinations until you find one you like.

Good luck!!

Thanks. What is that signature spot you refer to? Bottom right V30 on my top cabinet; on the inside edge of the speaker surround at about half inch from the grille at a 90 degree angle. It gives a very compressed tight crunchy presency sound. Reminds me of an old Marshall on steroids. Please bear i...

Actually, I did a lot of experimentation with recording my setup using an SM57. I recorded about two dozen 30 second clips. Each time, I'd change only the position; angle; or distance of the mic. Examples: 1/2" from grille: Center cone 90 degrees from grille Center cone 45 degrees from grille Edge o...
