Studio 22 love - vids

I recently bought a 22+ for the headshell from a board member. I honestly didn’t know what to expect and am amazed at how great it sounds. I mainly play metal so I’m looking at the amp through that lens but from videos I’ve seen it does blues and other genres pretty well also. It has that beautiful ...

Re: Buffers & the Mark II FX Loop

I never thought there was much of a difference.

Recently I started using the JP2C without FX loop and it definitely has a bit more bite and growl. Subtle enough that it’s probably not worth worrying about but it is there.

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Yup. In the Phase Inverter. Try it. The V4 one does the typical AT7 drive perfomance, the Phase Inverter one appears to enhance that massive 3d sounding vintage Markness across all channels. Ive had all my amps in 'this-config-or-similar-to' for a year and a half. Never looked back. I also use Tung...

Re: New vid: Mark V / JP2c / c+

I should add: V set to variac, channel 2 and 3 on 45w and 2 set to tube rectifier with 3 set to triode. From my readings of the V manual the original c+s are set to triode. Variac is a choice to get a bit more bounce or sag that you'd find in the c+ or JP2C, I expect due to the monstrous 105 transfo...

Re: New vid: Mark V / JP2c / c+

Hey Mace I'll upload some photos at some stage. Setting below are time face (o'clock). Crunch: - G: 5 - T: 3 - M: Max - B: 9 C+ Mode: - G: 3 - T: 1:30 - 2 - M: 4 - 4:30 - B: 10:30 - 11 Worth noting that the V and the C+ are slaved through the JP'c power amp. I've AB'd them with and without their own...

New vid: Mark V / JP2c / c+

Hi All I was testing out the reamping on the new axe fx and put together a short vid comparing the heavy rhythm or lead channels of the Mark V, JP2C and c+ as well as an Axe FX preset I made to mimic the JP2C. Despite being a short clip you can tell the slight tonal differences between the amps. A f...

Re: Mark IV - Worth getting?

The MKIV A was my first Mesa in 1991. I sold it in 1993, and regretted it ever since. I tried later models as late as 2001, but none sounded the same. For many years I thought it was just me. BUT....I recently came across a 92 MKIV A. Purely dumb luck, but this is the sound I remember!! Its got a f...

Re: Mark IV - Worth getting?

Did you end up buying it - I was going too I just couldn't get the funding from the Mrs - Its a cool amp for sure - US voltage was a pain but still for what he was asking for it was a bargin anyway Casey Hey Casey I missed out unfortunately. I had agreed to buy it from him but pulled out due to fun...

Re: NGDs - Ernie Ball

It's incredible. Feels more familiar than the majesty which is so light it hardly feels like a guitar. My only issue so far is that the neck width is thinner than I'm used to so it feels like I have less space for my fingers on the board. Something I hope I just get used to after playing it long eno...

Re: Mark IV - Worth getting?

Is it different tonally to the c+?

More aggressive maybe? And have you played / own a IVa or IVb?

NGDs - Ernie Ball

These past few months I've reshuffled some of my guitars leading to a couple new guitars. I've historically played Ibanez Jem's and RG's and this is my first experience with Ernie Ball Guitars and they are spectacular. Build quality, tonal versatility, wood, all of it is insane. Majesty https://farm...

Mark IV - Worth getting?

Hi all There's a Mark IV listed locally (sort of) and the guy is asking a super cheap asking price because a couple of the knobs are broken. From what I've read on the forum these can be fix or pots replaced. This doesn't really bother me too much. Issue is I have my ideal setup with a JP2c, c+ and ...

Re: I wish the Mark V had pull pots

Maybe I should just call it a day and get a K*mp*r. :0 Every now and then I ask myself why I run the Mesa heads when I could use the Axe FX for all of it... do away with a thousand cables, reduce my power bill, eliminate the heat coming from the tubes and remove all complexity from recording. Lol, ...
