Re: Is anyone playing blues with a Mk IV?

As much as I enjoy blues, I’m not the best player at it. But expect it’s a matter of tweaking. And tbh, any of the channels could probably achieve a good blues sound but quicker best would be ch1 high vol1, reduce T, Presence and master. Or ch2 low vol 1 and whichever mix of TMB works best. This get...

Re: Add a Lead Master to your Studio 22? Yes or No?

I can’t comment on experience pre and post ad I only ever owned it with the mod. And it was killer. I can’t imagine not having the mod in there if you want a lead or rhythm tone with some gain.

Re: New JP-2C Owner - Question re lead tone

There’s be a number of factors at play: - guitar setup - string life Assuming the guitar side is fine, and isolating the amp: - do you use any FX? Delay on the lead tone helps extend its life. - what are your settings? You mentioned gain set to high and decent amount of treble. How high are we talki...

Re: Train of Thought settings

I think you’re more likely to get close to Train of thought by tweaking the tone controls rather than the GEQ (or both). If I recall he used a roadking for that so it has more gain bass and is less tight. If I were going for that I’d pull gain, treble around up 3 oclock, up the bass to around 11 and...

There was a rackmount available on e bay this week from Germany or UK I think. Wasn’t too badly priced.

Re: JP2C FX8 MIDI programming help needed

Hi I found this thread on the fractal forum which may be of help. I haven’t used the FX8 before and based on my read appears limited in terms of midi sending however appears to be possible using CC messages and scenes functionality. https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/fx8-with-mark-ii-jp-midi.113...

Re: JP’s tones on Distance Over Time

I love the leads. I've preferred rhythms on older albums. I don't necessarily think this is due to the amp, I think its more a combination of production, general change in settings over time and I'm also not huge on the baritone. The push presence on the JP2c is definitely a winner for the lead tone...

Mark V (IV Mode) - Metallica cover

Hi all I recently almost sold my V (was a done deal that fell through at the last minute - I had packed up and all). When I fell through I was so relieved and have been playing it more and more over the last couple weeks as a result. I have started using IV mode and recorded the god that failed from...

Re: Mark III blue stripe vs Mark IV??

Hey bud I only picked it up recently-ish (about a month ago) and still very much getting acquainted. As you know for anyone that's had a mark before it's easier enough to understand the tone controls and set bass low treble high etc etc, but it's another thing to understand how each of the pull pots...

Re: Mark III blue stripe vs Mark IV??

I haven’t heard a III. But I recently got a IV rev B and it records superbly. Like instant perfect tone. Didn’t require any mic tweaking. The right amount of bite, clarity and heaviness. My only issue with the IV, at least with mine, is the output knob is ultra sensitive with a terrible taper so it’...

Re: How to slave IIc+?

I could be missing something as I haven't had too much experience slaving into another tube poweramp. Anyone else feel free to confirm or correct. Slave out brings the output signal to line level, and goes into the FX Return of the III bypassing the III preamp. This way you're sending your iic+ tone...

Re: Mark IV - Worth getting?

My Mark IVb hardwood / wicker combo arrived yesterday. Still getting acquainted but it is great so far. Had a few teething issues in the beginning with tubes falling out during shipment. But up and running and working through different settings. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48017577331_485a0f...

Re: Mark iic+ Playthrough vid

I agree on the boogie logo. I love the flat vintage silk screen ones rather than the embossed. I have a couple around from the original combo and a spare headshell. At this point I’m undecided if the c+ is staying in the black shell or going in a wine Taurus wicker shell with the boogie logo. I’d ha...

Mark iic+ Playthrough vid

Hi all So I finally got around to putting something together to demo some of the tones in the lead channel of my DRG. This amp is just too good. The playing is geared mostly toward metal / prog metal... is very much unstructured, unplanned with lots os shameless chugga chugga and some lead mixed in ...
