Re: 2:90 with balanced input signal

Hi there, An ABY pedal such as the Radial ABY will do it easily, I have one of these, they are good because they also have an isolator, phase reversal and ground lift switch, very handy. I found that the slave out of my Dual Rectifier wasn’t very good, but that was to blend Amps to. I found the cab ...

Re: 2:90 with balanced input signal

Hi There,

What are you sending balances signals from to the 2:90?

I had my G Major 2 in between my Mesa High Gain Amp Switcher and the 2:90, it has Balanced outputs that you just use a mono TR cable for and it works fine.

Re: Studio Preamp LDR

Those numbers you have would probably be right, I’ve seen other vactrols used in other Mesa Amps, such as the Triaxis, I haven’t seen other brands, though I haven’t had the please of playing around in all Mesa Amps yet. Definitely would not mind though.

Re: Modern Mode

Hi Ulf,

Could be preamp valves, here a link to where the valves are that do what

http://forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=39123

The schematic I sent you tells you where the valves in the power amp do what.

Cheers Brett.

Re: Modern Mode

Only thing I can see in the schematic is the relays that open when in modern mode, there is circuits taken out and different capacitors in play. Does it do the same thing with the Recto Recording plugged into the main in with modern on and off? How are you controlling the Recto Recording? Front jack...

Re: 2:90 with balanced input signal

Hi there,
Happy New Year

The inputs on the 2:90 are mono so sending the balanced signal to it will only go to it as a mono signal.
Not sure if you need to bridge the ring and the sleeve, as in TRS, to make the connection.

Re: Stereo Power Amp/Cabinet Switcher

Cheers desertdweller, had looked at that. Bit much to throw $2500 down for one of them. I can get the Palmers for 450, might be able to get it cheaper if I get 2.

Stereo Power Amp/Cabinet Switcher

Hi there all, I am after something that I can switch power Amps with, the only thing I can find is the Palmer P-TINO-S. I’d have to use 2 of them to switch between the 2:90 and the 2:100. I looked at the Ampete 444 but it only puts 1 amp on at a time. Something like this would be good though. Is the...

Re: Mesa Recto Reborn or Recto pre + 2:100 ?

Hi there, To my ears with the Recto Recording and the 2:100 and the Rectifier Reborn Sound pretty much on par. They are both sound awesome going through 2x 4x12 Recto Cabs. I think they sound better with EQ after the preamp and before the power amp. To do the Recto Recording and the 2:100 properly y...

Re: Help with wiring up a guitar rig

Hi there, I'd go with Jediguitarist except I'd put the Intellifex between the pre and power amps. This is how I've done the G Major 2. I've also used the G Major as a stereo spitter, mono in-stereo out, don't know if the Intellifex does this? If you have a switcher/looper, such as the GCX, you can s...

Re: Studio Preamp LDR

Hi there,

Does it look like they have been replaced before? I'd like to know if someone has used these in a 2:90 as well?

They have different current and voltages to the VTL5C9 that the 2:90 has in it.

Re: LDR'S in 2:90

Hi there Henz, I'm thinking of changing all my LDR's, mine does crackles for a good couple of minutes when I turn the standby on (running mode). My lights don't come on or anything though. I've got to try to find a replacement as the are VTL5C9's and these are not made any more. I've found these, th...

Re: TX4D triaxis board

Hi Micky, Ive done some more reading on this and found out this info, the TX4D is the FAT MOD or Searing Boogie Lead by the looks of it. Here is what i found: Mesa changed the mode adding a new board (TX-4) that emulated the Rectifier sound and named the LD1 Red "Recto Vintage", and later on they mo...

Re: LDR'S in 2:90

Hi Henz, I’m not sure if you are any good with a soldering iron? If you are, I’d do it myself. I’d say there may be a problem with a transistor as the led should only be able to light up if it has an earth. The only way I see it gets its earth is through the transistor Q5 in the wiring diagram. It i...

Re: Mesa Recto Reborn or Recto pre + 2:100 ?

Hi there, I actually like the Recto through the 2:90 best, but it’s not the true Rectifier sound. The Recto and Triaxis mixed through the 2:90 is my favourite sound. When I put them through the 2:100 it is also good but a bit more trebley, not as fat as the 2:90, the 2:100 sounds better cranked than...
