Re: Roadster - out of production

So I was just browsing the net and went to mesa page to find out the Roadster is out of production. Well... not so big surprise to keep the product portfolio somehow streamlined and the success of the pocket amps may diminish the need for this kind of monsters. Yet it is still sad day to find out t...

EL34s really make a difference in getting you into that territory as well.

Re: Road King II Chan 4 Volume Issue

I had something like this happen at a gig once and one of the switches in the back was flipped. I really wish there was a way to protect them a little better because it can be really hard to troubleshoot it when you can't see anything.

Re: Post your best classic rock settings

The type of pickups you use will have a huge impact on this as well. I can use my Les Paul with Burstbuckers and get a decent mid gain tone, then switch to my Explorer with a Custom and get a lot heavier tone from the same setting. I generally use channel 1 of my Road King on the Tweed setting for t...

Re: Tips on going from 4x12 to 2x12 cab

There's no good way to replicate the oversized cab. What you are hearing as more high end, is most likely just less low end. They both take up the same amount of floor space, you aren't really saving any room by taking the smaller cabinet and on a tight stage. The top speakers are closer to your ear...

I use an Avatar 2x12 with Creambacks. It sounds stellar for the stuff I play, your mileage may vary

I love Greenbacks but I'm using 65w Creambacks for the sake of safety with my Road King.

Re: roadster settings

Use channel 1:tweed for your dirty clean Channel 2 for your regular clean Channel 3 raw or vintage for pop punk Channel 4 modern for the metal Almost all of my eq settings are between 10 and 2 on the clock, with the exception of the gain on my tweed, that's higher. Your pickup output will make a big...

Give me more tweed and raw settings. To be able to use clean tweed, dirty tweed, dirty raw and dirty vintage would make me ecstatic.

Re: Which boogie should I buy? Studio and small gig

Mesa amps run a pretty cold bias, your tone is almost entirely coming from the preamp. They just need to be set up differently for lower volumes. I think a lot of the complaints about low volume tones comes from the guys that want a really chunky low end, you just can't get that from any amp at low ...

Re: Which boogie should I buy? Studio and small gig

If the quality of the clean tones is critical, I would consider more wattage. 25 watts in a gig setting might not give you enough head room for pristine cleans at your preferred volume.

If you use Mesa tubes, they will be a direct replacement.
