Re: Studio 22 voltage query

i see the 360VAC on the .22+ schematic and I believe that is a typo...that would be the voltage for the .50 caliber amps... some rectifier math would indicate that secondary should be around 300-315 VAC for the pair of EL84's that full wave rectifier would bump it up to 390-400 VDC for the B+ there'...

Re: Studio 22 voltage query

the studio 22 should have a rectified B+ in and around 375-400 volts... so if you have 275 volts AC on the secondary that sounds right... take a DC voltage reading after the rectifier diodes.... i do not see any AC secondary voltage notes on my Mesa shop schematics.... 360VAC!!! ha! after that is re...

Re: Best Mesa Tech in North East

I forget the guys name but he's an authorized MB tech in Great Neck, NY. He worked on my Lonestar and Mark IV. Knows his stuff. I am in Great Neck, not Mesa Boogie authorized but I have 20+ years with Boogies. Everything from complete restorations to customer consulted modifications...I can get cat...

Re: MKIIB - retrofit reverb

yes...I retrofit period correct reverb circuits in Mark series amps. The tube socket knockout is already there on non-reverb models for the reverb driver, as are the cuts for the RCA female jacks. The only question is if you have a head or combo which brings up any routing for reverb tank placement(...

Re: Maverick 2x12 Mystery Hum...and go...

it sounds like ripple in the power supply somewhere if you have ruled out speaker(cone-cry)...i have seen these maverick boards badly overheated. make sure the 220uf's are securely grounded and in an extreme case you might want to fly those caps right to the diode/rectifier B+ junction... check all ...

Re: Mk IIA Reverb Question

Depending on which version of the IIA you have, particularly the early ones with the Teledyne channel switching relay, you will need to lower the series resistance going into the relay... Mesa issued a service bulletin for this in 1980 which says to lower the lead channel series resistance to 150K f...

Re: Mark IIA or IIB?

The amp is certainly unique... no, i don't believe in my gut is it cobbled together by anyone outside of Mesa Boogie. The knobs on the front were definately replaced... the transformers all have 77', 78' & 79' EIA codes, as do the pots, EQ caps, etc... wasn't much work done on this except for B+ Fil...

Re: Mark IIA or IIB?

Yes, at s/n 5823 the data on the chassis should show something like October 1980. Lovetoboogie: could you check the date written in the chassis in black Sharpie, please? If I recall properly, I have seen a II-A with s/n 5574 born on 8/14/80 and have also seen another II-A with s/n 5022 born on 9/10...

Mark IIA or IIB?

Scored this chassis from a studio closeout... Wanted some feedback on what year this is and technically if it is a IIA or IIB... The serial number puts it in the first batch of IIB's but as the pictures show there might be a different story... Pots and transformers from 77', 78' & 79' Capacitors fro...

Re: 88' Mark III Blue Stripe Coliseum 180w Head *Sold*

Hey all... The head sold to a member here which is what I hoped for. I am the one who found it on CL locally here in NYC. I have been repairing amps, instruments and effects for 25+ years so I wasn't worried that anything major could be wrong with the head. I have specialized in Boogies and have see...
