Re: Which pedals work well with the V? Which don't?

Thanks for the post of the Blunderbuss Jb's 52. Nice big sound. Anyone use the Wampler Thirty Something? I figured out I am looking for a pedal to push the Boogie more into Marshall territory (JCM-800, think AC/DC Back in Black). I tried a ZVex Distrorton which pushed the amp into that sound and was...

The Stiletto sounds awesome! I could never get into Marshall's (though a lot of the best rock was made with them). The presence of the Stiletto says it all.

Re: Mesa Mark V - Metallica Tone

What are your settings on the Mark V to get the JCM 800 (or Mesa Stiletto) tone?

Re: Which pedals work well with the V? Which don't?

I am looking to fill out the board a bit with quality analog effects. I only have the Vapor Trail delay and love it. Do you have any clips you can share of the Blunderbuss? Seems like you're asking about dirt and overdrive pedals but if I'm being narrow in scope let me know. The only dirt I feel the...

Re: Which pedals work well with the V? Which don't?

Great recommendations.

Are there any sound clips you have/know of for the Mark V with the Xotic EP Booster? Also, do you know of any bargains on them? They seem to hold their value really well.

Anyone have experience with a good uni-vibe for the Mark V? Preferably all analog.

Re: Mark V Tone Help

If you are running a C90, this could be difficult. V30 gives the edgier tones. Try running the MarkIIC+ mode at 45W (play with the normal/bright switch). Bring your EQ sliders up all the way and drop down your 2200hz down about 2/3. Crank the Channel 3 master to around 3 or 4 'o clock and start brin...

Which pedals work well with the V? Which don't?

I switched from an original 1971 Fender Silverface Princeton to a Mark V. The pedals that worked well with the Princeton did not work with my Mark V: TS-808 Tube Screamer, EHX LPB-1, Boss ME-70 (digital multi-effects), Creation Audio Holy Fire OD. I am playing through a V30 with an LP. *TS-808: Too ...

Alex Lifeson Mark V Settings

I saw that Alex Lifeson of Rush is now a Mark V user. I read that he always has the power tubes cranked. I tried the cranking the master on all of my channels and turning down the gain and LOVED the tone. On Channel 2, I was able to get more convincing Led Zeppelin I tones. Does anyone know what Lif...

Re: Popping Sound on my Mark V

It looks like there is an issue with the household current when there is snow on the ground because the sound goes away with the snow.

Popping Sound on my Mark V

My Mark V has started popping on all channels with no input into the amp (about once a second). It is not popping on standby. The same time I noticed this, the amp started picking up more radio waves- mostly sermons.

Is something happening to my tubes?

Re: Anyone running a combo + 1x12?

soundguruman- I think you are living up to your name here. That is a great recommendation. I am looking dispersion and have enough volume (good point to make the distinction). Have not heard the EVM 12L before. I listened to a few demos online and the sound is VERY transparent- its as though the str...

Re: Mesa Boogie Mark V Reliable?

I have read interviews with Mark V users on the road who have dropped their Mark V off a loading dock and it kept going. Mine has been a tank and has not issues with transport including shipping.

Anyone running a combo + 1x12?

I have a V30 and want a little bigger sound from my combo for that 2x12 sound. I generally play blues and classic rock (Led Zeppelin). What speakers do you recommend? I am hearing great things about the V30 pairing with the Swamp Thang or a Tonkerlite. A mismatch in speaker size could be interesting...
