Re: TC50 first impressions and argument to buy

I would love to hear your take on 6V6s in the TC100. The extra girth from the 100 combined with the mojo of the 6V6 tubes is so tempting...but I seriously do not need another amp.

Re: TC50 first impressions and argument to buy

Yes, with the stock tubes this amp is awesome. Do yourself the favor of at least trying the 6V6 tubes. It's definitely worth the cost of the tubes and then some.

Re: Greenbacks?

Still haven't tried the EQ pedal in the loop, but I can't stop GASsing over the Invader. Where are my Rolaids...?

Re: Greenbacks?

Yeah, that's the difficulty....can't hear them in person unless I buy the speakers, lol! I heard a clip of the Neo Creamback compared to the V30 on YT, and I honestly could not hear a difference. I got very lucky when I bought my Electra Dyne. In person, the amp sounded very different compared to th...

Re: Greenbacks?

Right after I posted this thread, I looked back to previous threads and found a positive post regarding greenbacks. I have a vertical 2x12 recto cab that I bought used. When I got it, only the bottom speaker was the original V30. The original top V30 has been replaced with a Celestion G12M-70. I rep...

Greenbacks?

Has anyone tried Greenbacks, or variants, with their TC series amp? I've been contemplating getting a WGS Invader. I confess I've never been too much of a fan of Greenbacks in general, but have heard some clips with other amps lately that are impacting my opinion.

Wish/Fantasy

I would dearly love it if Mesa brought back the Electra Dyne. But, in a smaller, lighter weight format. A 50 watt head or combo weighing about the same as my TC50 would be ideal. Adding a master volume taper that matches the TC50 would be another great improvement. As much as I love my TC50, my Dyne...

Re: Change of pups for Jackson Dinky XL

I also think you also need to take your pick attack into consideration. Mine has always been pretty heavy in most applications. I've been using Hot Rails for years and they are my absolute favorite single-coil sized humbucker. But that is heavily influenced by my approach to the strings. I have Hot ...

Re: EH 6CA7

That's not a bad price for =C=, especially with Mesa's rigorous testing practices!

Re: EH 6CA7

The EH 6CA7s are some of my favorite power tubes. I have not tried them in my TC50 yet, as I don't want to void my warranty. However, I have tried them in my Mark V, and I really enjoyed what those did for that amp. But, I have a matched sextet of 6CA7s on hand to try them when I am ready. I also go...

Re: First time Boogie owner. Mark V 35 Combo

I've read some conflicting viewpoints on that particular speaker, yet the online samples I've heard really peak my interest. The weight of the Neo speakers adds to my GAS. Eminence now has a Legend EM12N as well. Nice to hear another viewpoint on the Neo Creamback

12BZ7?

I stumbled across a thread on another forum. In that thread, amp builders (supposedly) were talking about using a 12BZ7 in place of a 12AX7 in the PI slot. I have never heard of this tube before. Has anyone here tried using on in the PI slot?

I have been considering a pickup swap between two of my guitars. Before I gut one for the other, I tried a set of GFS Fat PAT humbuckers I have in an Ibanez RG through my TC50. I haven't touched this guitar for many months and was surprised to find out I had it tuned down a full step. My Hi Gain cha...

Re: Mesa MarkV / Saturation 'mod'

Back in the 80s, I did the Summer Session thing at GIT. The top 2 things I got out of that experience was: I learned to use my pinky almost as strongly as my ring finger. I don't do many bends with it, but I can if I need to stretch enough for it. The second thing was modes. The hardest thing to do ...
