Re: Mini Rec tube life

They should last a long time. You could try swapping one at a time and see if you hear any difference.

Re: Is boosting a Recto overrated?

Never boost. Use the love 'em or hate 'em 490r/498t pups.

I will add reverb and or delay to my cleans and I like to mix in chorus and a phaser at times, but no boost.

I use the solo switch if I need a volume boost.

Re: Doug's tubes worst service ever. Buyer beware

I've never had an issue. I've only ordered from him once or twice but the tubes arrived timely and were well packaged and in good condition.

Re: Dual recs from 2001-2010

Aside from Silverwulf's thread, Ill end this quick. "They say those recs sounded more "muddy" and "scooped" and possibly less aggressive." the Less aggressive thing is splitting hairs. the 3 channel circuit has a two 100K resistors in the preamp that if jumpered, gives the amp a little more aggress...

Re: Dual recs from 2001-2010

There is a thread by Silverwulf documenting the changes/revisions of the 3 channel rectifiers. It depends on what you are looking for. I could tell you that the 3 channel rectos sound better than the 2 channel and multiwatts. Someone else will tell you the 2 channel's are the holy grail. You should ...

Either he doesn't know what he is doing, or he is trying to charge you for work he didn't do.

Re: Mini recto tones using maple fingerboards

Am I missing something?, did the rectifiers are specially designed for darker woods? :( Try a yellow guitar. I notice most of my amps sound better with yellow, white, or silver guitar. The brand of your guitar strap will influence the "mids" too. It's not really the brand of strap, but rather if it...

Re: Holy grail recto

I'm not so sure there is a huge market for that particular amp. I'd bet $1,500 plus/minus $100 or so. Perhaps add $100 or so euro's to that since everything seems to be more expensive over there.

Re: Holy grail recto

Looking at the classified section here, this one was listed at $1,450...seems to have sold for that too 4 months ago. http://www.forum.grailtone.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=72699 I couldn't find any for sale currently...granted I only looked for a minute. Edit: I see you are in Europe...I have no idea i...
