Re: Possible Mod on Reeder Mod # 1 ????

Lead dress might cause Hum if this mod were added like that. I guess I am curious why Randal hasn't started turning out LSS with the pots swapped. Seems like any improvement would increase their marketability.

Re: Effects Loop Bypass

The switch hole could be used for a jack to a foot switch. It would have to be an 1/8 inch jack and plug instead of a 1/4 inch which is usually the standard. Get a Single Pole Single Throw foot switch quality switch. If you don't get a foot switch quality switch the switch won't hold up.

Re: Lonestar Special Critically Ill

I traded my Vibro-King for a LSS and it blew Fuse, Rec and power tube when I got it home. I went and bought some NOS Mesa tubes. They had been at the shop for a while. Maybe the older ones are better. I haven't had any problem since. Having sent your amp to Mesa, they would have known if it was in t...

Re: I love my lonestar!

one of the best amps I have ever owned - simple to dial in, and outstanding from clean to driven. Keeper

In fact the clean qith reverb is unlike any other amp. I did the Reeder mods and the mid pot mod on ch2. Even more impressive.

Now ch2 sounds like ch1. Whoowhoooo

Re: Lone Star Reeder Mod #2: The "Mid Mod"

I installed this wire while I had it out to do th Gain Pot swap. Also opens the amp up and removes the blanket sound. Would anyone want to post some good settings for Blues? I stayed away from this amp for far too long cause it had to many knobs. I guess I don't have a consistent grip on tweaking. V...

Re: Lone Star Reeder Mod #1: Channel 2 Pot-Swap

I made the mod yesterday. It made a world of difference in responsiveness. I notice my Gain pot had number 5988739 1036 and Master Gain 598792 1036. This MB LSS was bought new in January of 2011. So at least this mod applies to newer LSS amps. I do wish they had put a shelf to slide the chassis out ...

Re: Lone Star Reeder Mod #2: The "Mid Mod"

When removing the chassis from the LSS, what do you have to do with the grounding/vibration screw. I haven't worked on a Bogie before. I assume the other 4 screws hold the chassis. Is there a slide like in most Fenders where the chassis can set as you slide it out?

Re: Lone Star Reeder Mod #1: Channel 2 Pot-Swap

Thanks Mr. Reeder. I guess I knew there was a reason why I gravitated toward the Clean channell. It is ethereal. Now CH2 can give me that same feeling. And the guy that installed pickups for you should be well good enuf to swap these 2 pots.
