Re: Lone Star Reeder Mod #1: Channel 2 Pot-Swap

djw, I would have to agree. Some pedals don't have boost to them and end up sucking tone from the guitar signal.

Re: Help!Should my lonestar special be this quiet??

Take it to your local MB authorized repair station. You can find them on the website, or send it back to the factory. It is reasonable labor and it will be returned working perfectly. There is some mods for reducing the current through the tube Rectifier, but if you are not using the 5 watt mode, th...

They are loaded with sturdier transformers and porcelain sockets for lasting longer than I will ever play it.

Very True.

Re: LSS Tube Cocktail?

YellowJacket, the issue is I accidentally got a groove tube EL84 in there. It Red Plated took a fuse, Rec Tube, and the Power Tube. I sent it to Mesa Boogie for Repair. Only Mesa Boogie Power tubes should be used and the pairs should be matched. There is a Current Reduction mod that involves moving s...

Re: LSS mystery solved

Axe dude, my sentiment exactly, but the repair was very reasonable. They will figure it out. The made the amp. Let us know what you think when you get it back?

Re: LSS mystery solved

Axe dude, Why not email Mesa and see if you could ship your amp back to the factory for repair. For instance it cost only $20 to ship it from Galesburg, IL and labor was reasonable with no second guessing. It is their product so no trouble shooting waste and it improves their product to see how or w...

Re: Lonestar needs a retube?Just bought 2nd hand,really quie

You need to get Mesa Boogie Power tubes and possibly MB pre-amp tubes put back in it. I accidently put a GT in for a power tube and caused a meltdown. Rec & Power Tube, fuse and possibly a Power Transformer could have been fried cause of a runaway power tube.

Re: Why Dumble?

I assume that Howard is controlling these through copyright litigation. Hence the large cost. A few years back I was digging for schematics on Dumbles. I got a warning from Howard that he didn't want me flooding the internet with schematics. I live in a small farm town and the likelihood that I will...

Are you going to have Weber rebuild it, or buy something else. I like the stock speaker in the LSS>

Re: Forgetting about CH2 LSC v2

I have done the Reader mods, and should consider the blending mod, so you can foot switch in a blend on both channels. Sounds like what we need. Is it true that the loop provides another gain stage? If so, if you hard bypass, I guess that extra stage isn't there.

Spread Sheet of settings for The Lone Star Special.

While I had my Fender Vibro-King, the guys and I on the Fender Forum developed an Excel SS of settings. Would any of you like to post your favorite settings and who they sound like and I will compile a Spread Sheet of settings for The Lone Star Special? I looking for all that magical tone bottled up...

Re: How do I fix the rectifier problem on the LSS?

If you plan on using the amp 15 or 30 watt mode, the rectifier is solid state and the 5Y3 is switched out. It is only on the 5 watt mode that the tube is recitifying. On that note Mesa Boogie engineering is recommending using a Weber Copper cap solid state replacement as the rectifier. And make sure...

Re: LSS Current Reduction and 5Y3 mod

After sending my LSS Chassis to MB, we discussed switching to a 5Y3 Weber Copper cap replacement for the Rec tube. Also, let me stress the importance of using Boogie Power tubes. I accidentally got a Groove Tube El-84 in there which Red Plated and blew the fuse and the 5Y3, luckily the PT and OT are...
